Newborn mommies check in!!!

Ang, you inspired me Chat Icon Chat Icon

DD will be six weeks old on Monday. I have no idea how much she weighs Chat Icon because we haven't been to the ped since she was 2 weeks old, and we don't go back till she is 8 weeks old.

She is primarily BFed and goes about 4 hours between feedings. She gets one bottle for formula (gentlease) at night and takes between 4 and 5 oz. She generally gives us one good stretch of sleep from 9pm to 2am, give or take, and then is back to her eating every 4 hours schedule.

Right now she is on a two hours awake, two hours asleep "schedule" - is anyone else noticing this pattern?

She is definitely a happier baby now that she is getting older and more adjusted, and since I cut out ALL caffeine - turns out she is super hyper sensitive to even the smallest amounts, not including decaf black tea. Her eyes are slowly starting to turn brown like her big brother and she is quite the talker - she loves to coo at the mobile on her swing Chat Icon

Okay so...

DS was up to 10 pounds, 7 ounces as the one month visit...50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height (21.5 inches)

On 100% pumped breastmilk right now Chat Icon and still managing to keep my output slightly ahead of his intake so I have a nice freezer stash. He is eating 4 - 5 ounces per feeding about 6 times per day.

We get the same stretch...goes down for the count anywhere from 8pm - 9pm and wakes between 1:30 and 2:30 am then every 3 - 4 hours.

AR is not nearly as bad as we thought and I didn't need to cut out any foods Chat Icon I have been caffeine free since I left the hospital and want to try to hold off as long as possible...no idea if it would bother him but might as well not test it out. Doctor suggested a supplemental vitamin since he is on breastmilk...anyone else giving that? It's the Enfamil over-the-counter one.

Eyes are still the dark bluish gray but I think I am starting to see flecks of brown...big eyes like his big brother Chat Icon Tons of smiles throughout the day and we are starting to get a bit of a rough routine down which makes things easier. Startign to coo hear and there but not in full force yet.

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

DD is almost a month old, don't ask me when that happened. She was born at 6, 11 and she is well over 7 pounds. Since she was a nicu baby, a home nurse comes, so we will know her weight next week. She eats every 2 hours during the day. But only a few ounces each time. She still sleeps more then she is awake, but she loves to sleep at night. And she will roll right to her side and has wound up on her belly a few times. She spend 2 nights in the hospital this past week because she woke up with a fever on Sunday. Overall she is a content baby and only wants to be held. DD number 1 is still adjusting, but is happy to be a big sister!

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

I'm not sure if DS is still considered a newborn, but I will respond anyway!

DS will be 11 weeks on Monday. He has had his first round of vaccines and weighed 12 lbs. 15 oz at his 2 month check-up.

He is on Enfamil AR and Zantac for his refulx. It seems to be getting better, but he still has problems with it at times.

As for sleeping, we are doing pretty well at night. He normally has his last bottle around 8:00 and usually sleeps until 4:00 - 5:00 AM (sometimes earlier). He then will have another bottle and wakes up for the day smiling around 7:00. He is so happy in the morning - no idea where he got that from since DH and I are NOT morning people Chat Icon

As for sleeping during the day, that is another story Chat Icon DS is NOT big on napping. We are working on that!

Hmmm, well Luke will be 3 months in 3 days so this will be my last newborn post Chat Icon He is 14lbs 2oz now and is just an absolute love. He STTN from 8pm-6am then back down till 8:00am. He is still on the Alimentum and Zantac and Im not even going to think about stopping it. He eats 4-5oz each bottle, spits up A LOT but he is just so happy. He smiles nonstop all day long. He only really cries while in the car, he hates being in the car. His eye are almost all green now, with just a tinge of blue left. He almost rolled over yesterday from back to belly but didn't quite make it. He goes for his 3 month check up on Wednesday. I can't believe my baby is already going to be 3 months.

Oh and Im pretty much feeling normal again. Its nice to be back LOL.

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

Ainsley was 7 weeks on Friday. I'm not sure how much she weighs cause we don't go back to the ped until 2 months. I'm guessing she's over 9lbs now. She's sleeping wonderfully at night..she goes in anywhere between 8:30-10pm and generally sleeps until 6am. She has a brief moment where she wakes at 5am but the past 3 mornings has gone back to sleep after making noise (not crying) for about 10 mins.

She's eating 4oz at a feeding. I think because she goes so long at night she's hungrier during the day. Her pattern right now is eat for an hour, sleep for a half hour, be up and awake for an hour, then she wants to eat again.

She just started smiling about a week ago and gave her big sister the biggest smile yesterday and Kaydyn was loving it.

She has a really good temperment and very rarely full out cries. She still wants to be held when awake though. We have tried the bouncer seat, the activity mat and the fisher price glider and she only last 5-10mins in each. We absolutely lucked out with her.

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

DD is 3 wks today and i cant believe it. i am EBF so i dont know exactly how much she is eating but she is a happy baby so i know she is eating enough. she eats pretty much every 2-3hrs and is going through a growth spurt the past 3days sometimes eating every hour. i know she has gained some weight, but i don't know how much, we havent been to the doctor since she came home from the hospital and don't go back for another week.

she is starting to smile (maybe its gas but i'm convinced she smiles at me). she has found her fingers that she sucks on when she is awake. she is awake more often during the day, sometimes until her next feeding.

she slept for 5+ hrs straight the past two nights, and i hope she keeps it up! it definitely helped that i wake/woke her during the day to eat and let her sleep till she is hungry at night.

i cant wait to see how much she has gained at her next appt!

Ava Rosemary is almost 10 weeks old. She got her 1st set of shots which we both cried for..lol
She was born 6.2 and now is a whopping 10.1 lbs..lol. She eats every 3 or 4 hours. We have her on Enfamil A.R. 5 ounces and also just started giving her Axid since the Zantac wasnt working for the Acid Reflux. She smiles alot and silent laughs and has started doing coos but its not in full force yet! She goes down around 10 and wakes around 4:00am. Hoping that changes soon!Chat Icon

DD is 9 weeks old and weighs almost 12lbs!! She was born at 6lbs30z. She's already grown almost 3 inches as well Chat Icon

She's had terrible reflux and milk allergies so she;s on Nutramigen and Zantac. She's such a happier baby now that it;s under control. She wakes up every morning smiling and is sooo calm now. (except in the car where she screams her head off)

Her sleep is ehhh..most nights she'll only give me like 3hrs at a stretch. Sometimes a little more or less. Getting her down to sleep is a huge problem. I put her down asleep and she's up 2 mins later. I pick her up, rock her back, put her down and 2 mins later she's up again. It goes on and on for like an hour after that.
However, last night she slept from 12am-730amChat Icon But of course that was for my MIL since she was watching her Chat Icon I hope she gives that to me again tonight.

Her christening is next sunday and i'm SO excited. She has the most gorgeous dress and I can't wait for her to wear it.

Charlotte was 2 months onThursday. She had her two month appt that day and was 10lbs 14.5oz and 23 inches. She also had her first set of shots that day and was slightly fussy. You could tell she wasnt feeling good, but she still had tons of smiles for mommy.

She is doing great on the formula and sleeps 8 hour stretches at night without waking up Chat Icon

She is such a good baby now - very different from just a month ago or so.

She coos, and smiles up a storm! She absolutely adores her big brother, but I think she likes Genevieve best out of the two of them. G sings to her, tells her stories and Charlie just stares/smiles at her. BUT I am by far her favorite - she is definitely a momma's girl.

I forgot what its like to have a newborn - this little baby that just loves you know matter what. They dont talk back, dont make a mess. I'm really taking advantage of this stage because this is probably our last child.

And of course, heres an updated pic (this were already posted on another thread a few days ago so it might look familiar!)

Tyler is 3 weeks old today!

He is eating 3-3.5oz every 2-3 hours. I pump during the day and supplement with 2 bottles of formula at night. I am barely making those 3-3.5 oz during the day! Chat Icon But atleast he is getting my BM, I am going to keep BFing until my supply is too low!

He is sleeping 4-5 hours at night and during the day he is starting to stay up for around 4 hours stretches! I think he is starting to figure out his days and nights!

He is such a happy baby only cries when he is hungry or when he has gasChat Icon

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

I am so jealous of the 6-10 week olds that sleep 6+ hours a night! Heck, even 5 hours!

DS is 7 weeks old today! For those that don't know, he was born 8 weeks early at 3 lbs 6oz, went down to 2lbs 15 oz that first week. I am sooo happy to report that he is now 6 lbs 3oz, so he's doubled his lowest weight in 6+ weeks! He has also grown more than 3 inches as of last week Chat Icon He's finally the size of an average newborn, which makes sense since he would have been full term by now (my due date was supposed to be next week!).

Because he's a preemie and needs to keep gaining weight, I have to feed him every 3 hours, can't go more than 4 hours at night. I BF from both breasts, and then he gets 1.5oz of preemie formula (I have not been producing enough despite trying every trick in the book to increase production). Feedings take over an hour each time, plus add in diaper changes and multiple burpings each time (he's very gassy), and it takes me about an hour and a half to feed him each time, then I hold him up for about 15-20 minutes and then either put him in his rocker (it has an incline) or lately, I've been trying to put him in the playpen or crib. So I get about a 1 or 2 hr stretch in between to try to nap sometimes.

I am VERY sleep deprived. Add the fact that the last few days he's been very gassy, spitting up a ton, and I haven't been able to nap when he's down because I'm afraid he's going to choke. It's been stressful and the lack of sleep is really hitting me hard.

DS also apparently has some kind of allergy which the doctor thinks might be a milk allergy, so I've been instructed to cut all cow's milk out of my diet. Hopefully that will help DS with his gassiness and the bumps he has on his face and chest.

But other than that, he's doing REALLY well. He looks So big to me now considering how tiny he was and he is overall a very good baby that is now much more alert during the day and sometimes doesn't even take a nap between some feedings, just stays up looking around and soaking it all in. He is truly a joy and I am SOOOOO sad to think that I only have a few more weeks at home with him before I have to go back to work. Chat Icon

Xavier will be 3 months in 3 days. At his 2 months appt he weighed 9lbs 13oz...he's a little peanut!! We go for his 3 month checkup on tuesday. he's still on Axid for reflux and has been doing great.

Most of the times he eats about 4oz...sometimes it can be as little as 2oz. When he wakes in the morning it's sometimes 5oz. I'm having a very hard time with him during the day. He needs to be held at all times(while standing) while awake or he screams bloody murder which is hard when you have a 2 year old to run after also. He also hates the swing and bouncer.

With that said he is an EXCELLENT sleeperChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon He naps regulary during the day/evening and falls asleep usually between 9 and 11. He'll wake up about 4:30 have a bottle and go back so sleep until about 8. Rylan was a horrible sleeper until a year old so this is wonderfull!!!!!

He's also rolled belly to back 2x so far.

DD will be 10 weeks on monday. She was 10lbs 7 oz and 22 inched long at her 2 month appt. She also got her first 2 shots and did great.
She is eating 4 oz every 3 hours during the day and STTN, goes down b/t 9-10 and sleep till 6-7, with an occasional awakening around 4-5, where she makes some noises but goes right back down.
She is an absolutely delightChat Icon and we are so in love with her. My DS adores her and vice versa. She is a happy baby, smiles, laughs, the coos are really starting. Only really cries when shes hungry. She's not a great napper, only takes capnaps during the day in her bouncer or on a flat surface (she will sleep longer in the carseat). She also prefers to be down, especially on her playmat or a blanket as she LOVES to move around. I am enjoying every moment with her at this stageChat Icon

DS is 11 weeks this week - he is great except for a recent eating thing which I'll be posting about. He was eating 4-5oz every 3-4 hrs. but now won't eat more than 2oz. Other than that he is very alert and active when awake - lots of cooing, its like we're having mini conversations. And he smiles and laughs, its so sweet. He goes down aroun 9-10 and wakes 4-5am for a bottle then goes back down till around 7am.

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

Noah is about 6 weeks. He's now 11 lbs and 24" long. He was born 8lbs.

I was BF all day (literally, with only a few 30-1hr breaks for his naps). There is no real pattern during the day. By evening, I am exhausted so I give a bottle, for as often as he'd wake. It was very varied how long he'd sleep, but one thing for sure, he'd sleep much much longer on 4oz of formula, than on 4 oz of breast milk. He could probably sleep more than 4 hours, but as much as I'll complain about being tired, I'll actually be the one to wake him at the 4 hour mark from missing him so much.

We have a very gassy baby, but he's been sleeping through it. His grunting bothers me more than him I think. We do baby yoga for the gasses he toots the entire time!
I also now give gripe water before every meal and if he's fussy. Also tried chamomile tea (ped recommended), but I think he loves the gripe water.

We got our first vaccines at 6 weeks and will be getting them spread out, so we started a little early.

He turns his head to anyone who is talking, so interested in conversation. He loves to be tickled, responds with coos and smiles. His coos are more like shouts but I'll take it!

Re: Newborn mommies check in!!!

DD is three weeks old. Her last weight was 7lbs, 5oz.

She is BF, and I try to pump one bottle a day so DH can take care of at least one feeding. She is eating about 3.5 oz and feeds every 2-3 hours. Unfortunately she sleeps most of the day and is up for long stretches at night.

We are finding at night she appears gassier and seems to be straining to pass it, so it keeps her up.(Any advice on this? Mylocon and chamomile tea dont appear to be helping)

She does roll to her side in the crib and is always trying to lift her head up during tummy time. She also doesn't like mobiles, but loves her swing!

DS is giving me a hard time burping and sure enough when we give up and sit him upright he spits up a little. Never upset about it and it just seems to flow out...but it drives me crazy.

Any advice or suggestions?

DD was 10 weeks yesterday and weighed 12lbs 8oz 23 inches long at her 2 month visit. She also got her shots which made her hysterical Chat Icon I never heard her scream like that- it was so sad Chat Icon
Lia is on Enfamil and seems to be doing great, takes about 5-6oz at each feeding (she likes her food!) and she basically sleeps through the night. Goes to bed about 9pm and wakes up at either 5 or 6am. But she really only takes short "cat naps" during the day. I'd love for her to start having scheduled naps. Anyone know when that starts?
I only have 6 more weeks left with her until i have to go back to work and the thought of it is killing me Chat Icon

This is our biggest problem too. DS suffers so much because we can't seem to get the burps out.

Try to burp at several intervals throughout the feeding.
Alternate different burping positions. Walk around with him leaning on your shoulder. It can take an hour to get out the last burp for us. Wish I knew a quick solution. But soon they'll burp themselves.

Peanut, as I call him yet his real name us Bobby, is now 11 weeks old. He was born at 7lbs 10oz, but at his 2 month appt he was 10lbs 6oz. He is in the 25 percentile for height and weight. Which surprises me for the amount that he eats! He's up to 7oz every 2.5 hours and now sometimes he wants even more.

he sleeps through the night since day one...but hes such a little wiggle worm. If i put him in his crib on his back by the head of the bed, when I check on him he's at the foot of the bed laying on his side LOL.

Hes such a happy baby...always smiling a cooing. He loves to have long conversations with people he knows. I am def his favorite...when someone else is holding him he looks around to make sure Im near...then he'll smile and finally pay attention to whos holding him LOL

I dont kow how I lived without him....he brings me so much joy and Im so happy with each milestone he makes
