Re: Names

The winning name: Christina

There were no other girl name options since my mom was told that she was having a boy and didn't bother to think otherwise.

My name that I was supposed to get had I been male was : Shawn Michael.

I don't like the name they picked for me. I use Christine all the time instead of Christina and most of my close friends call me Chrissy.
Only my dad called me Christina. It's his favorite name.

Re: Names

Winning name: Danielle
My dad was a plumber and one of his customers just had a baby named Danielle. He told my pregnant mom and the rest is history.

Runner up: until my dad found out about Danielle, I was going to be Beverly.

Boys name: I was going to be Joseph after my dad.

Re: Names

Winning name: Lisa
Other possibilities: my dad really wanted me to be named Deirdre
Boy name: Brian

I can't picture myself as Deirdre, but I would have been the only one in my schools with that name, Lisas were a dime a dozen!

Winner: Katherine
Alternate names: Lauren, Jennifer
Boy Name was Christopher

I'm hated my name as a kid-- I would've loved to be Lauren, or Stacy was my fave name because I was OBSESSED with Kids Incorporated...

I'm cool with my name now!

Re: Names

Winning name: Rebecca
Alternates: Robyn, Rachel (so many people call me this, I sometimes think my mom made a mistake) Laurie (dad's choice)
Boy name: Richard

I hated my name as a kid but I like it now. I wanted to be names Stephanie or Lisa, because there weren't enough Lisa's already (there were 4 in my grammar school class).

Fun topic!

Winning Name: Lisa
Other Option: Corrine
Boy Name: Joseph or Michael

I like my name, but just like every other Lisa, Jennifer, or Michelle born in the mid to late 70's --- it was 'overdone' --- there were 5 Lisa's in my math class in high school Chat Icon But I do like the name and I do think it fits me.

I know someone who named their daughter Lisa a few years ago (maybe 5 years?) and it was nice to hear it again in a younger generation - although I haven't heard it again since then!

My name is Lisa, and it was between that and Jennifer! My middle name starts with a B and people call me LB - just like your SN!

Re: Names

Winning name: Kristin with two "I's" (thanks to my Dad!) which so many people get wrong, even family, even people that I email and they respond to my email with my name spelled incorrectly Chat Icon

Runner Up: Karen - I don't think I could pass for a Karen at all.
Boy's Name: I think it was Christopher but I could be wrong.

Re: Names

If I was a boy: Daniel (lol it was either Danielle or Daniel)

If they didn't go with Danielle: Lauren

I was actually supposed to be Lauren right up until the last minute when, all of a sudden, my mom decided she didn't care for it - and went with Danielle. My grandmother (her MIL) stated she should have stayed with Lauren. That was nice. Chat Icon

My sister, Jennifer, was supposed to be Suzanne (which I can't even imagine, so funny to me b/c she is so a Jennifer) but last minute my Dad said he hated it.

Kenneth is the first boy, named after my father, so that was pretty much set - no seconds, not sure if they had a girl name for him - back then, all three of us were a surprise b/c they didn't tell you the gender back then. The middle name for Kenneth was in question -- my mom wanted to fully name him after my dad, Kenneth James, and my dad, for some reason, doesn't like James - then my mom even suggested using it as the first name she liked it so much - was thinking she'd call him "Jamie" but my dad HATED that - I think it's cute - so, she scrapped it all-together and named him Kenneth Joseph -- Joseph is after her father, my pop-pop. The only bad part in doing this is that both my dad and brother are Kenneth J. but Kenneth is not a junior b/c the middle name is different - so when we get mail for Kenneth J. with no JR or SR we have NO idea who it is for. It has caused some confusion over the years. Chat Icon
