My son had really bad eczema as a newborn and it turned out he had a dairy allergy he also gets eczema patches on his face when he eats eggs, pineapple, and tomato. As soon as we discovered the connection along with a few other signs we went to a ped allergist for testing which confirmed our suspicions. Once we stopped those foods the eczema cleared up. I know many people that had babies with large eczema break outs and ended up having a dairy allergy. Not saying that is the case for your child but it may be worth looking into. We also switched to free and clear detergent and California baby eczema body wash... Aveeno made his eczema worse

my dd#1 had eczema all over as a newborn and she gets patches sometimes but mostly she just has sensitive skin....she turned out being allergic to peanuts.....my dd#2 had eczema patches as a newborn and still gets them occasionally we haven't figured out yet what she may be allergic too

From what i've been told eczma in babies is a sign of allergies and/or asthma in the future. 2 of my DD's had bad eczma, they both have allergies.

Not necessarily, although I know eczema and allergies are often related.

My older girls had mild eczema as babies and my DH has eczema and none have allergies.

My 2 year old has eczema still and is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, and mildly to milk, soy, and wheat. Because of the egg allergy and the eczema, I was hesitant to start peanut butter, so my pediatrician suggested we do a battery of allergy tests first. (Before we got a chance, he accidentally ate like 1/2 a peanut and had a reaction.) I'd do that too if I were you.

Not sure of the stats but I have eczema and I have no allergies- other than seasonal allergies to ragweed etc
No food allergies or asthma

Two of my children had terrible eczema - thankfully, they grew out of it and have no food allergies. However, they both have terrible airborne allergies to all kinds of things.

Dd has terrible eczema and she has no food allergies thus far(she grew out of her dairy one by a year) but awful animal environmental and dust allergies.

My DD has eczema. It was very bad as an infant as soon as she was able to try the cortisone cream (prescription) it cleared up. Ped suggested we test for allergies in the future because it could indicate allergies but it's not necessarily a result of allergies
