My newest foster. 10wk papillon/chihuahua puppy

I've had Quinn for almost 2 days now (I named her Quinn although her petfinder page says Flower) and I can't even begin to tell you, how much I'm in love with her. I keep begging DH to let me keep her. I mean, my heart literally hurts when I think of having to give her to another family. Even if they're great people, I just can't wrap my brain around it.

With Chicco, I liked him right away, he was such a great great dog. It broke my heart hearing him cry when I left him, but when I seriously think about leaving quinn, i just wanna cry all day. I've bonded with her already so quickly. The way she nuzzles her way onto my chest, licks me, even the look she gave me when I gave her a bath today.

The thought of taking away my dogs newest best friend (my pitbull is IN LOVE with her. She lets her swat her in the face, bite her cheeks. she loves it! she encourages it actually), my son absolutely adores her too. He giggles every time she's near him and she puts her paws on his chest and licks his face, he can't be any happier!

I guess I'm just looking for a place to just whine and cry about how much I'm in love with her and don't know what to do. Well here are some pictures to melt your heart

OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!

That is pure sweetness right there. That face!!!!

I don't think I can be a foster - I would never want to give any of them up.

This is exactly why I could never foster, I'd never be able to let them go! What a cutie!

BTW, I give you major credit for fostering Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My newest foster. 10wk papillon/chihuahua puppy

see, with my first foster, he was such a sweet, amazing little dog. But I was happy when he met his new family. I cried for a few minutes when I walked away, but I've been fine. I guess it helps since his new mom is so happy about him, she keeps emailing me and sending me pictures so I know that he went to a great home.

With Quinn though, I just have this bond with her already. She absolutely adores me as much as i adore her. I know, so many people see her and go aww and a lot of people aren't meant to be dog owners, nevermind PUPPY owners. I think people tend to forget how much work puppies are. I have to take her out every 2 hours to pee, she's teething right now so she's constantly trying to bite on something, she barks when she hears certain noises. I just really don't wanna see her in the wrong hands so I know I'm going to be like super nazi with applicants :-/

On top of that, just seeing her interact with my dogs. seeing my 40lb pitbull be so gentle with her, yet still roll around and play and be happy. Seeing my son's face light up every time she walks in the room. I just feel like she's the last piece of the dog puzzle in our lives right now. I think my DH just has his heart set on a pit puppy and that's what I originally said too. that I wouldn't want any other dog than a pit since there are so many in the streets and shelters....but then I met her. I just don't know what to do. I'm sick over this!

I have so much respect and admiration for people like you who foster dogs...I can't imagine having to give them up, especially one so sweet as Quinn.

I just got email about a serious applicant and she's going to come meet her this week and probably take her home. i can't stop crying. My heart is literally breaking right now. I'm wondering if this is how it will be with every foster from now on? If so, I don't know if I can do it. I don't know what to do Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Awww....I'm so sorry. I would feel the same way as you. I don't know if I could do it either. I would get way to attached. You are doing a great thing fostering these pups, and giving them some freedom and love until they find a permanent home/family.

He is so cute!!!

That was my first thought when you posted you would be doing that. I give you a lot of credit, I could never let any dog go. I would have a house full of dogs! I was crying reading your blog about chicco!

Re: My newest foster. 10wk papillon/chihuahua puppy

awwww omg!! and while I really loved having Chicco at my house, I didn't bond with him like I have with Quinn. I'm actually at the kennel (BFDT) working and she's laying on my lap sleeping. I'm meeting with possible adopters tomorrow and while reading through a lot of applications, it was breaking my heart, after talking to these people, my heart hurts a little less because they really seem like the perfect family for her! she'll have a 10 month old chi brother to run around with which is perfect and it's a married couple with a big fenced in yard. She promised she'll keep in touch with me and send me pictures and updates on her if the dogs get along. I'm going to cry like a baby tomorrow but I know that she'll be in a great home! I'll probably be picking up another foster either tomorrow or Friday night so maybe it'll keep my mind off of her. :(

Re: My newest foster. 10wk papillon/chihuahua puppy

yep!! they are absolutely wonderful too. it was EXTREMELY hard for me to give her up. i cried and felt like an idiot, but REALLY cried when i turned the corner and walked down times square (everyone probably thought i was a lunatic sobbing) they're keeping in touch with me and even offered to have me over for a bbq and just hang out with her! she's adjusting really well with them and loves her big brother! I couldn't be more thrilled. I get my new foster on Wednesday. he's a 2 year old chi from the same shelter Quinn was from.
