My friend is having 2 showers for her 3rd baby!!!

On the same weekend and I am invited to both and they are both in PA!! Chat Icon

Does anyone else think this is complete overkill?? And she knows about them both (she doesn't know when one of them is) and one is in her house.

My SIL is giving her the one in her house. And her SIL is giving her one in the Pocono's.

I'm only going to one. I'm not treking back and forth twice. I just feel like if I were her, I would put a stop to one of them. This is her 3rd kid! Am I crazy for thinking that?

Well..I am probly the only person that sees nothing wrong with having a shower a second time-although I know my mom would never throw me one a second time..HOWEVER...I also see nothing wrong with not going...

Overkill isn't the word. I think the word you are looking for is greedy.

Sorry, just my opinion. I know, I don't have all the background info, but from what has been said, this is ridiculous.

I have nothing against people having a sprinkle, it is a sweet idea (although my family would never do it-you get one shower only). But to have 2 showers the same weekend, and for the 3rd baby...come on.

I have to agree here. If it was me, I'd be willing to allow my SILs to throw a small sprinkle but only ONE, and only if they insisted. Two is absolutely overkill unless maybe there was 10 years in between kids? Chat Icon

Why is she having 2 seperate showers though?

Her SIL was planning on doing it a while ago. Then my SIL (her BFF) wanted to do something too.

This is her 3rd child. She's already had showers for each of her first 2 (a boy and a girl). And granted, her youngest is now 7. So I'm sure she really does need some stuff, because she got rid of things over the years. But this baby was planned. And she told us "I need stuff". And her registry annoys me because she's registered for items she already has, but is old. Chat Icon

I have no problem with one shower. But 2!!!! If she were being surprised I wouldn't be so annoyed by it. But she should have insisted my SIL not do anything, since she already knows her SIL is. Plus now I feel bad having to say no to her SIL because I obviously have to go to the one MY SIL is throwing. And I can't not go to at least one because DH is the Godfather. And I want to celebrate her baby. I am happy for them.

The whole thing is a mess. Yes, they know. And now the SIL is not talking to MY SIL because of it. So stupid.

Re: My friend is having 2 showers for her 3rd baby!!!

That is just CRAZY!

I totally understand a shower after 7 years (despite my hard asss stance). I've happily gone to them myself for a second or third child when I feel it's warranted (different sex or large age gap). But 2 on the same weekend with the same people being invited and neither are a surprise is insanity.

I agree. One shower for a 3rd kid when there is a 7 yr age gap is fine, but I would think the mother would have some tact and insist that there were only one and that the 2 hosts work together.

That's just way too much to ask of people.

If I was that girl I would honestly be embarassed. People don't love having to go to baby showers to begin with..so having to go to someone's shower (or 2 showers) for their 3rd child seems crazy.

Re: My friend is having 2 showers for her 3rd baby!!!

Well I can see having a shower after 7 years. A good friend of mine is having a shower and her youngest is 8. What I think its insane is to have 2 showers, its like asking people for 2 gifts, and its rude.

Re: My friend is having 2 showers for her 3rd baby!!!

Wow - I can understand 2 showers if it's your first baby and if none of the same people are invited (I'm having 2 but they're in completely different states!), but 2 for a third child is overkill. I think one sprinkle/small shower would have been appropriate.

To the OP, I would only attend the one shower where you are closest to the host.

Re: My friend is having 2 showers for her 3rd baby!!!

IMO nothing wrong with a sprinkle...but 2 is overkill, especially since some of the same people are invited to both showers. I think that would be silly even if it was the first baby!
