My first dr appt tonight! - update
so they took blood, gave me a pap and made me pee in a cup nothing exciting lol
they have to send my blood to an outside lab due to my insurance - did you girls get your results on the spot?
than she got me so excited and said lets do a sono - i felt bad though because DH wasnt there - i was going to call him to make sure it was ok and than the doc tells me that my insurance makes me go elsewhere for sonos
ugggh so that is going to be super annoying!!
But i get to see my little one on monday!!! which will be better since i will be one day short of 7 weeks

Did your DH come to your first appt – especially if it was only taking blood? I don’t think mine can because he is working late and I do not want to reschedule.

They usually don't like to do a sono that early bc you could be earlier than you think and if so, you won't see much of anything.
My DH came to every appointment with me from the beginning, but since they are only taking blood, I think it's OK if your DH can't make it.

Personally I would rather wait a few weeks for a sono a be able to see a baby, rather than go early see nothing and then be worrying for the next few weeks...KWIM?
When I was preggo with DS my OB didnt want to see me until 8-10 weeks for my first appt..and they did a sono but I was about 9+ weeks at the time so we could see something...

DH went to sono appts only with me.

Yay Rita!!!!!!!!!! Good luck today. My DH came to my 1st appointment. It was on a Sat so thats why. They only took a urine sample from me at that apt. I was told to make an appointment when I was 8 weeks. DH came to that, and they did a sonogram.

My DH is coming with me to my first appointment on Friday, but that is only because we will be doing the sono. He did not come with me for bloodwork etc.

It's better to wait till 8 wks for the first sono. 6 weeks can still be too early and you may not see anything yet... ( which will just cause you more stress and worrying).
I know I went at 6 wk and there was no HB, so I panicked. Then went back a week later and everything is perfect. So it's better to wait so you wont have to worry!!
I am sure everything will be GREAT!!!!!
I think if it's just blood, it's not as important for DH to be there.

Like the other girls said, most MDs won't do a sono that early unless you are having a high-risk pg. There's not much to see right now!
DH did come with me but I knew I was getting the sono last night. I am going to ask him to come to all of my appts though because I'm a nervous nelly. If you're just going for bldwk and DH can't make it, just make sure he can make the next one!

Yay Good luck. I brought my husband with me, but we did have a sonogram. I'd probably bring him regardless though I needed the moral support, ha.

They do the bloodwork to look at your Beta Levels. They just like to confirm your pregnancy and that the number is in the range for you based on your LMP.

Good luck Rita!!! DH went to my first appointment with me but it was so early we ended up not seeing anything during the sono. Now he only goes to the appointments where i get sonograms. If you arent having one, its not necessary for him to be there IMO.

My OB wouldn't see me until 8 weeks for the same reason everyone else said -- you can't see anything much before that, which could just cause undue stress. I had a blood test with my GP a little over 6 weeks just to confirm the PG since I had only taken one HPT. They only told me one # and it was 42,500. Since it was the only BT I had, I didn't have anything to compare it to, but my GP said it just meant I was pregnant and probably around 6-7 weeks along (we couldn't do any sort of exact date from my LMP because my cycles were so irregular).
DH only comes to appointments with sonos, so he hasn't been to any of the blood draw appointments. If he wants to come to meet your doctors, I'm sure it'll be fine, but if he can't come, he's not going to be missing anything too exciting.

Good luck! If DH can't come, I wouldn't worry about it and as for the sono, my dr. scheduled me for my first appt based on my LMP at what would be 7.5 weeks. Because of long cycles, I was really only 5.5 weeks. They did a sono based on LMP and I was so disappointed when we couldn't hear the heart rate. I go back on Friday and have been freaking out ever since. It is better to wait until they can actually see something, less headache in the long run for sure!!

I'd hold off on the sono. You can see so much more at 8 weeks (heartbeat etc).
When I was pregnant with my DS, DH came to most of my appointments, including the first one. But this time around DH is usually either working or watching DS when I go to my appointments.

Congrats!!
My bloodwork has always been sent out to a lab for the testing. And I just wait until my next appointment for the results. I assume if there is something alarming they will call me.
As far as sonos go, I get them done in the office. But you will be able to see so much more closer to 7 weeks! And maybe DH will be able to come!

Thanks! yes he is coming - he has to take off of school but he will be there. i have to go to my ob next week too so she will probably just tell me those results than as well
