Mother of Groom gown shopping locations
My mom is looking for a gown for my brother's wedding this summer. The wedding is black tie preferred. We are in south shore Nassau but willing to travel within 45 minutes. She doesn't want the traditional "mother of bride/groom" wear. I think small boutiques are better geared towards what she is looking for. I'll take any and all suggestions. This could be painful for me

For my brothers wedding, my mom bought her dress at Totally You on Merrick Road in Merrick. For my wedding, my mom bought her dress at 2 Be Seen on Jericho Tpke in Syosset. She had great experiences at both and the alterations done at both were fantastic. Good luck!

She's not a fan of Macy's but will try L&T. I think she needs a smaller type store where she can get great customer service. She's really nervous about finding the perfect dress. My mom's family and my soon to be SIL are making her a little crazy.

The Engle Shop in Englewood, NJ. It is where my mom got her dress for both my and my brother's wedding. It has amazing service and beautiful dresses. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
(Merrick to Englewood is 47 minutes)

My mom got her dresses at Totally You for both mine and my brothers weddings.
I really like it there because it seems like every dress is very unique.

What about looking at Nordstroms and Bloomindales if she does not want a typical MOG dress. My mother got a gorgeous dress at Nordstroms. I know many whose mother's went there as well.

There is a shop called Filly's in Roslyn on Willis Avenue - very $$$$ - but definitely one of a kind dresses for black tie type affairs.

My mom got her dress for my wedding at Bloomingdales. She had it narrrowed to 2 dresses - one from Bloomies and one from Nordstrom.

My mom got her dress for my wedding here and loved her experience. You tell them what you're looking for and they pull the dresses for you.
