Moms who work from home

I am going to try and work from home full time due to personal reasons and was wondering how it works for you. If you dont mind, what do you do? And does it ever get really difficult with DC at home with you? Do you enjoy it?

I only work from home one day a week. I'm in sales/marketing. Some days it is REALLY difficult soe days it's super easy. It really all depends on DD and her mood and how busy I am with work that day. I do enjoy it and love being home with DD. I usually try and find little breaks during the day where I can just focus on doing soemthing fun with DD, go to the park, play in the backyard, etc. When DD takes her naps I try and get as much work as possible done.

Re: Moms who work from home

I work from home one day a week and both kids still go to daycare. I couldn't really be productive if they were home with me. Once the kids are mobile (9+ months) , I think it gets much harder to work from with them there.

I work from home 4 days a week. My DH now works from home the other day.
The girls ( 2 1/2 and 15 months) go to daycare PT. I wasn't able to get anything done with 1 home, never mind 2.
It works well for us. I get work done and they get to play at place they love to go too.

I work from home 2-3 days a week, but DD is in daycare. Once she hit about 15 months...it was impossible to get any "work" done while she was home. She loves daycare, and I get work done Chat Icon

I work from home 3 days a week. My DDs (19 mos and 3yo) are home with me 2 of theses days. It is HARD! While I love being home with them I am so stresses on these days. I am expecting #3 and when I go back to work to 2 older ones will be going to daycare full time and the baby will be home with me 3 days. I am a financial analyst by the way and have a lot of conference calls which makes it hard.

I knew it was time to put DD in daycare, when I was on a conference call and someone asked if everything was ok with DD because she was screaming in the background. I told them she wanted to watch Elmo and I wasn't moving fast enough...the next week, she started in daycare Chat Icon

I will let you know how it goesChat Icon I think for me it will work out fine. The office is seperated from where Andrew plays yet I can still see him.

I have been trying it out and so far so good. I will be working very PT. And I will be doing most of my work before he wakes up and after dinner.

We shall see. When baby #2 comes that should be excitingChat Icon

I work FT 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. When I just had DD, she was home with me and it was HARD. I was always stressed out trying to balance work and take care of her. I had to stay in the house and be accessible to my job at all times so she got bored sometimes. I tried to take her out at lunch time though. I had to learn to become really efficient and get most of my work done on my office days and I also worked alot during naps and in the evenings when she went to sleep to make up for all the distractions during the day. With 2 now I hired a nanny for those 2 days so when I have to work and focus I can and when I don't, well I have an extra set of hands to help me.

I am looking for a PT job though - I don't want work taking my attention away from them (at least 2 days a week) anymore Chat Icon

Re: Moms who work from home

I work from home 5 days per week in the afternoons (I'm in the office in the AM, pick up DS around 2:30 and then work from home). When DS was younger, it was easier because he could be in his pack n play while I made some calls or handled emails. Now that he's older (13 mos), and walking, he gets into everything to it requires a bit more juggling but is definitely do-able. I work as a recruiter so almost all of my job can be done via phone and email if necessary.

Re: Moms who work from home

I work from home one to two days a week and to be completely honest with you...I still send DS to daycare. I can work from home with him when he is sick but it is very difficult to get work done with him at home. I need to be available by phone so it is not easy.

ETA: The days that I do work from home with DS are very difficult and I am exhausted by the evening. DS is only 6 months old though

Re: Moms who work from home

I work from home 2 days a week and DD has been home with me. She occupies herself real well so I'm lucky. In sept I will have baby #2 home too, so well see how it goes. I may end up putting DD in daycare for those two days but well see. I wish I could go part time but not an option now.

Re: Moms who work from home

I worked from home for 5 months and it was IMPOSSIBLE to do anything with my DS here so he had to go to daycare...which kind of defeated the purposes of me working from home. Putting aside DS, I thought I would LOVE working from home but I HATED it. I always felt isolated and unproductive and distracted and never felt motivated to even get dressed some days.

I work from home full time and I agree with all of the above posts - I would NEVER get anything done if I didn't have someone watching DS. My mother and MIL rotate days and come over everyday from 9-5. DS will probably start daycare PT time soon to give the grandmas a break!
