Moms who add cereal to bottle for spit up when did you stop?

DS is 7 mos and I still add 2T of rice cereal to every bottle. It definitley helps him keep it down. He is still spitting up but it has definitley slowed down lately.

I often ask myself the same question. DS is 8 months and I still add 2 Tablespoons of rice cereal to his bottles. Im not planning on taking it out of his bottles though. When I switch him to sippy cups and take him off formula is when I'll change it...DS doesnt like baby food and wont eat the cereal so I guess I feel he gets it this way...

i've been wondering and worrying about this too. DD gets 3 tablespoons in 7oz bottles and now that we're also starting her on the spoon cereal, fruit, veggies i feel like its too much. we only give her a little bit with spoon. the GI specialist said to try cutting it back in the bottle little by little as she starts taking more by the spoon?

He said.... If it's not broke, don't fix it. We aren't doing anything to harm them by adding it in, whereas, if the reflux gets bad again and you aren't adding the cereal anymore.... It can throw them into pain with the reflux!!!

yes i just worry that i'm giving her too much cereal. DH is with her today so we're trying giving the fruit and veggie only in between bottle instead of fruit AND cereal. reflux =

We are also still adding it. I'd say about 3tbs in each bottle. My Dr. said I can try and take her off and see how she does. I've been slowly cutting it back and she's fine. I guess I'll update when its done.

I also don't give her cereal by spoon. We stick to fruit & veggies.

Charlie was still spitting up even w/the cereal in the bottle...so I just stopped it at 6mos to see, it and the spit up didn't seem any different/worse so I left it that way. I wasn't crazy about giving it to him in the 1st place. Plus, now hes getting cereal 2x per day before the bottle anyway.
