moms due in late december or january

how much decorating did you do this year for the holidays?? i am getting alot of neg coments because i only put the tree up (i have 17 boxes in the attic that are going untouched)... ds is only 1 so he really doesnt get it yet and the thought of taking it all down makes me cringe since i delivered 3 weeks early with ds.... so i am curious if anyone else scaled it down this year

DH put lights outside and we decorated the tree. That's all that's up so far.

I don't know if I'm going to put up any other decorations - our house is in a bit of disarray right now as we finish the nursery/make room for baby stuff so I don't have room to put it anywhere.

I'm not due till the beginning of March but still, we went minimal with decorations this year. The tree is the important part IMO!! Chat Icon

There will be a menorah going up in the window and one or two in the house!

I'm sorry, I would tell someone who is giving you grief to kiss my azz.

Re: moms due in late december or january

We put the tree up and I decorated a little but I didnt buy extra like I normally do. I suggested to my DH to just do a 4' tabletop tree would have been fine this year but he insisted so he said he wouldnt mind taking it all down. His mother will also be staying with us around January so I'm sure he knew his mother would help. I cant wait to go crazy next year though! Chat Icon

Re: moms due in late december or january

We haven't started yet, but I just told my husband yesterday that I think we should do a sclaed back version this year for the same reasons! I'm due Jan. 17, and we usually leave our decorations up till the end of January or so. I tried to tell him that we will NOT want to be taking down decorations with our several-days-old baby around!! We will be doing a tree and then probably just a few small light things around our porch.

Re: moms due in late december or january

I usually do alot but since Chat Icon is due 1/16- and im hoping sooner- I decided I just wasnt up for lugging everything out and then having to deal with putting it all away. So we have our tree and a few other little decorations but nothing like the usual..and I am totally fine with it!!! I just want my Chat Icon ASAP!

I'm due 1/3 and doing all the decorating this weekend. We are putting up a small tree and most of the decorations. We live in a second floor apt. so we only have to decorate the windows.

Same here. I am due in March, but we only did indoor lights and will put up a tree this weekend. I really don't want DH spending the entire weekend day putting up lights and another to take them down when I would rather have him work on DS 's big boy room before DS#2 is born. I almost didn't even want to put up a tree because I don't want to fight with DS about touching it, but everyone said that was "scrooge like!"

Re: moms due in late december or january

I am due New Years Eve, but went as all out as I could (I rent and have no room to store things, so I have nothing for the outside). We have a tree up and I decorated the living room. It is just my DH and me this year, so I really wanted to make it special. I will probably be hating myself when I have to take it all down.

Re: moms due in late december or january

This is our first Christmas in our new home so we started from scratch with the decorations. So far we just have the tree and stockings up (well DH put it up while I watched, LOL). I think that's it for this year, I'll pick up some more decorations after the holiday and hope to get some good deals so next year can be very festive in the house.

Re: moms due in late december or january

We put up a tree but a much, much smaller one than usual and we put up minimal other decorations. This is plenty for us this year - I'm exhausted and our apartment is already in such disarray as we're preparing the extra bedroom, etc. I can't believe someone actually gave you grief - they should be glad it wasn't me because I would've gone off on them! How dare they!

Re: moms due in late december or january

DH put lights up outside for the first time on our home and I kind of had a psychotic episode and it looks like Christmas threw up all over the first floor of my house. lol. We aren't going to NY this year b/c my doctor doesn't want me to fly, so we kind of wanted to make ourselves feel better by overdecorating.

I am due Jan 7th and still have my fall wreath on the front door!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I tried to clean up a bit in the dining room today and condense some of the baby gear that is ALL OVER in boxes/bags/piles but we are still working on the room and can't move stuff upstairs yet...

DH wants to decorate the outside like we always do - wreaths, lights, etc - that's all on him if he wants to tackle that job... I feel like at this point if we put it up it will be for such a short time it is not worthwhile...

Re: moms due in late december or january

Same here, we just put of the tree. Getting the shopping done was a challegne enough! I didn't want to worry about taking all the stuff down with a newborn to take care of.
