Mixing frozen breast milk with freshly pumped BM...

Is this allowed? I have lots of frozen BM questions today...

I think its because my DD just turned 4 months and I am starting to have anxiety about returning to work in June.

I have a pretty good supply of frozen BM but I know that once you freeze the milk it loses antibodies and other fun nutritional ingredients. So...can i mix the milk so she can get half and half?

Yup. It's allowed just don't refreeze it.

It's also OK to mix two sessions worth of pumped milk, you just use the older date for storage guidelines.

Yes!

I have also been giving freshly pumped milk at the 1am, 6am and 9am feedings for my son (newborn) and then frozen throughout the day (about 3-4 bottles).

The LC who taught the breastfeeding class I took said you can only mix BM at the same temperatures. Room temp with room temp, refrigerated with refrigerated, etc.

Wow, sorry I totally misunderstood what you were asking. Yes, you can thaw frozen milk and mix it with freshly pumped milk for a feeding. Haha sorry, I'm tired Chat Icon
