He attended her funeral this morning.

I mean, if he was scheduled to be somewhere for the weekend, I really don't see what the big deal is if he went on with those plans. He was back in time to attend her funeral.

Because people makes assumptions and then run with it. Since he attended the funeral, people have now moved on from that (false) narrative and are instead complaining that "taxpayers paid for his trip to Germany."

Um, taxpayers paid for the NYPD detail to go and protect him. Is that false? And ps i haven't moved on from him skipping out on this city while in mourning for an NYPD officer assassinated. I know plenty of others who haven't either.

Mindboggling the people who defend this dirtbag.

I'm not defending him, since I really don't care much about him but I think the uproar about his trip to Germany is much ado about nothing. In the same vein, I guess you also have a problem with all of Trump's kids receiving secret service details, even when they are on vacation together in Aspen?

I'm not being snarky, but how does the city expect him to mourn the police officer. He attended her funeral, so what else was he supposed to do?

YES!!! This! I get that a police officer died and it sucks horribly. But should he be sitting with the family? And would the family even want that? If it was me, I would feel that would be fake and just a photo op. And quite honestly, if he did, I bet that people would be saying that he only did because she was a minority officer too. So I am sure he wouldn't have been able to win either way. He paid his respects at the funeral! Which is what he should have done!

What else was he supposed to do? Well, a few suggestions would be to speak out loudly and vocally against anti-cop crime; clean the urine out of the streets; fix the homeless problem; come up with a solution to the increase in crime; and LEAD THE CITY like he is way overpaid to not be doing.

Not run to Germany to protest capitalism, visit his son, and avoid having to deal with all the problems that he had a hand in creating.

Those are important issues that need to be addressed, no doubt. The city is a dump at the moment, walking around with the various smells and garbage seriously seems like a health and safety hazard.

However, the narrative that is being put forth about this trip to Germany is a bad example and I feel people are really grasping at straws to make this more into than it is.

First, the officer (the poor woman was only doing her job) was killed by a mentally disturbed man with a gun. So many innocent people (including the children at Sandy Hook) were murdered by mentally ill people with guns, yet the NRA and our government refuse to put controls in place to get guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. In fact, they are making it easier (i.e. Trump overturning mental health regulation put in place by Obama).

Second, he went to Germany "to protest capitalism"? What exactly does that mean?

Third, he visited his son. Is there something wrong with that?
