It is just ridiculous.
I can not understand how people can not see this is political. Children wear no masks now. They are in camps, socializing, going to summer school and they are fine. Does something magically change in September that now they have to wear masks again?
This is going to be a major issue for school districts.
I feel bad for the kids. If parents try to fight it they will be called names etc. It pisses me off that it’s ok to be without a mask now but when school is on then they have to mask up. It should be all or nothing, why was the mask mandate even removed?
Because initially, the thought was children weren't getting sick but the older people were but it could pass from children, so to keep older people safe, the kids masked up. Now all adults are eligible for the vaccine if they choose so it is not as important for children to mask up and the adults have made their own choice.
There is no reason for children to wear masks now. Even if children get sick, it is normally not serious and only .01% of children have passed away from this virus. While any loss of life is horrible, it is not such a drastic increase from other viruses to cause such a asinine mask mandate.
I really don't get the fear with children. So many of my daughter's friends had Covid and there symptoms ranged from a sniffle that was no worse than any head cold kids have all winter long to no symptoms at all.
Most were no symptoms at all. They only knew they had it because they had to get tested due to exposure.
So yes, back in the day the argument was- well yes but they can pass it to an elderly person, or an adult who will get sicker with it etc- but now everyone is vaccine eligible so that shouldn't be an argument anymore.
But yet I hear people who are vaccinated still masking so as not to spread it to their children who can't get vaccinated. But again, it's a very very minuscule threat if a child were to catch it. Probably about the same as ANY virus or illness a kid can pick up.
I really don't get the whole thing with kids.
Because ever since the pandemic happen, they are “The Children of the Corn”!

True, true. I did hear a rumor somewhere that an unmasked child was the reason for the recent Covid outbreak amongst vaccinated Yankee players...
