Let's talk shorts...
I only had 1 decent pair of shorts, so I went shopping for some last weekend.
All of the shorts at my "go-to" stores were super short.
I am 37, and don't think short shorts are the best option for me.
I found cute Bermudas in J Crew and thought that they were decent. I wore a pair to a block party and DH said that they were "Ellen Degeneres" shorts.  Obviously not the look I was going for.
It it just me, or is anyone else caught between two worlds- fashion wise. Still liking Abercrombie type stuff, but wondering if it isn't appropriate any more?
So, how old are you? What length shorts are you wearing? Where did you buy them?

I am 37 also. I have decided skirts are the way to go. Except for the gym.
The shorts in the stores now are either cootchie cutters (shorty shorts) or they hit at a weird knee area and cut my leg in 1/2.
So I wear skirts.

I'm 32 and I don't wear shorts out, only around the house or to the beach. I haven't in ten years. I wear skirts, cute dresses or capris.

I'm with Sissy -- I'm 42 also and wear shorts that are longer. I actually picked up some nice Limited ones last year from Marshall's.
Once I hit my late 30's/40 I've been finding it so hard to dress. I like to be stylist and "hip", yet there's nothing worse than somebody in their 40's trying to dress like they're in their early 20's. But then you don't want to look frumpy either. Ugh, the dilemma....

I can't wear bermuda shorts - they look awful on me. I found 5" shorts at Old Navy that I don't think are too short... I"m 30 and I tend to be more conservative b/c I hate my thighs  and these seem to work well for me. I rarely wear shorts, though, usually capris.

Old Navy bermudas work for me. I just cant do the short shorts either anymore and these are not farty at all. Mid thigh and look cute. Good price too.

I'm 31 and the only shorts I wear are Bermuda's. In fact i only started wearing Bermuda's about 2 years ago, otherwise I hadn't worn shorts since I was a little kid!
I bought some at Old Navy this season, last year I had gotten some at NY & Co that I really loved, but I can't find them in the store this year.

I was just going to suggest the same. I bought some two summers ago from there and they're great. Super comfy and the length is great. I also bought a shorter pair (not very short) and love them. 2 years and 1 baby later, I'm still wearing them.

I found that NY & COs boyfriend cut shorts (in denim and chino) were really good. especially after having DS last year and nothing fits the way it should, I really like these. not too short, not too long.
i cant seem to find them online, but the stores probably have them.

I just wear skirts or sundresses, I always feel like shorts make me look heavier than I am and dont compliment my legs so I just wear skirts.

i don't wear shorts either, and i'm 27! Skirt, capris, or dresses for me - I just don't think they're flattering on me. I have weird knees 
eta: I even BOUGHT a pair this year - kept them in my drawer with the tags and receipt. Took them out to wear them a few times, but never actually did...tried them again last week and they were too big. I returned them.

i actually found shorts at kohls this year that are about mid thigh. they have belt loops and a draw string which i like.

Let me preface this saying I don't like my thighs, but I wear shorts from Land's End. They are bermuda shorts that come just above my knees.

I'm 35. Mostly skirts and sundresses these days. I have a couple of pairs of shorts from dress barn that are a couple of inches shorter than bermuda and they work well.

I don't do shorts! I have this thing with shorts. *I* feel that if your legs touch, I can't wear them. So, its skirts and capris for me.

I have the same issue! I am 28. The reason I dont like short shorts is that I have very long legs--so what is short on one person is crazy short on me
It is impossible for me to find a good length which is why I usually do sundresses/capris BUT
I found decent length shorts at TARGET! They had a cple styles and I bought them. The plus side is they are pretty cheap

Im 37, and i wear the 5" shorts from Old Navy - but it's not an age thing with me, more of a 'damn, my thighs have gotten bigger' thing and i'm trying to hide them as much as i can
i've found myself wearing cute little swingy skirts a lot more when i'm home and being casual
just a tank top and skirt really helps.
i too find myself stuck sometimes between looking my age, but not wanting to look frumpy either.
