I saw this the other day. So crazy. I was confused though why they suspended the teacher. If anything I would think they would question the parents. As with any story, Im sure there are more facts not being reported!
ETA: I do wonder why the teacher didnt realize they were both in the bathroom but she cant be blamed for the sex act. Judging from the shenanigans that have occurred in my child's classes, teachers generally dont have 24/7 knowledge and control of every move.

I was just about to post this.. Umm WTF happened to questioning and investigating the parents??
How come this kid or both these kids know about sex and taking their clothes off. It could've been something they seen on TV or older sibling or something innocently exposed to BUT its also one of the signs of Sexual Abuse.

i havent been in a kindergarten class in a while, but depending on how many kids there are its pretty easy to get caught up with one and not realize it... i did my HS community service in a Kindergarten class.

Unfortunately it's not rare. When I was I law school a classmate was security for a LI district and this happened in the elementary school. This was mid 2000s so it's does happen and nothing new.
IMO it's an issue in the homes and not a teachers fault

i havent been in a kindergarten class in a while, but depending on how many kids there are its pretty easy to get caught up with one and not realize it... i did my HS community service in a Kindergarten class.
Please When I have my two nieces, I lose track. And that's just three kids in a 2 bedroom apt.
I know some will say but a teacher is trained and educated on dealing with a group of kids, but I can see how a teacher can get caught up especially if there was no aide.

I am sure I'm not the only mom who has had a chat with her kid about when it's ok to take off your clothes and who can and should not see you naked.
How do 5 year olds know to "have sex"? I would imagine it's biologically impossible for a 5 year old boy to get an erection or am I wrong?
Kindergarten classes are organized chaos. I think the school needs to look first at what goes on in those 2 homes.

teachers aren't allowed in the bathroom with my 5yr old so unsupervised pee break doesn't surprise me really. "Sex" is just what it is.. im sorry but I do NOT show my daughter sexual content of any kind (call me a prude) but she knows EXACTLY what it is and the positions involved. Someone tell me how that happened? She point blank ASKED me about it. I said what do you mean by 'frucking' and she SHOWED me! I can't unlearn her. But I can educate her on what is and isn't appropriate.
We've had our talks, she knows NO ONE is allowed to see her 'butt' (her words) and she can NEVER take her clothes off or anyone unless I am there or daddy. That includes the doctors. NO ONE sees you naked! She freaked out once and tattled because 3 girls in her prek class were in the bathroom trying on each other's clothes.. I mean ALL clothes down to undies! Teacher walked into a pile of clothes and 3 giggling girls.
I think we need to be clear on what 'sex' was in this case. We need to know why so much ruckus was going on this class. We need more facts.
I'm not saying the homes are safe
I'm not saying the school wasn't wrong
I'm saying we need more info.
Fact is we can't shield our kids. I have an only child. I control her intake but the reality is I can't control what her friends at school and afterschool show or tell her. I can't control the other kindergarteners older siblings from talking and it getting to her. I can't control the public. I just have to educate her. Pretending my 5yr can't understand, shouldn't understand or won't be exposed would be my fault.

It's not the teachers fault but they are blaming her because the bathroom was in the classroom and they feel she should of realized 2 kids were in the bathroom together let alone long enough to get their clothes off. I think probably she had too many kids to keep track of lord knows with all the cuts they make to education these days. I also think this is a clear sign of sexual abuse and CPS should open an investigation. I feel bad for the teacher...

Other articles say that there was testing going on, so there were kids moving in & out of the class.
All the teacher did wrong was let 2 kids out of her sight for a few minutes . If all the did as go into the bathroom & flood the sink, then this wouldn't be such a an issue, yet her role would have been the same. I wonder what disciplinary action her school would have taken in that case.
I highly doubt they had sex, but yes, what they did, what they thought they were doing and where they learned that are big questions.

Ha ha, no 5 years olds can get an erection. It's just biological thing that happens to them.
One time , when I went to pick up DS from daycare , there was an incident where he and another kid were grabbing each other. I was mortified and very concerned because now I needed to know what exhibited this behavior. Was it something minor where it was done out of curiosity or was is it something he had seen done or done to him? Most horrifying thought. This was when he was 3 and after we had discussion about private parts. Thank goodness after several discussions it ended up being due to curiosity. We still couldn't pinpoint who initiated it because they both blamed t on each other.
Anyway, I just find it odd that there was no mention of the parents. My first major concern if I knew my child didn't get that behavior from home, would be where is this coming from? Then maybe question if there is proper supervision or more supervision needed to assist the teacher. But to me that's not the major issue here. The actual behavior is what should be focused on.

I don't know. I would be super pissed if it was my 5 yr old in the bathroom long enough with another child to get fully undressed without the teacher being aware. I know everyone's saying, not the teachers fault on lif but this isn't necessarily the general feeling. Put your child in the scenario. I bet you would be pretty pissed that the teacher didnt know where the kids were.

this is interesting. My 7 yr old has no idea what sex is, positions or anything.

It's not the general feeling of LIF, this could be a clear sign of sexual abuse. I don't think anyone is saying the teacher gets a pass but there is no mention of the parents being investigated. There is a chance a child could be getting abused and no ones looking into that because we are focusing solely on the teacher?? That is one of my issues with this story.
As a parent, I would question where the teacher was and what happened. But hell to high water , I would be more concerned with what happened in the bathroom and if my child initiated it. And if he did, where was this coming from. Then I could focus on supervision and what was going and how long they were in there.

I really don't think it is the norm for a 5 yr old to refer to "flucking" and show you sexual positions of ANY kind. If it were my child I would be highly disturbed by this and would be questioning my DC up and down to get to the bottom of exactly WHERE, WHEN and HOW he heard this. I would be VERY concerned honestly.
As for the story, I'm sorry for her, but, the teacher is definitely at fault here. In our school K's have a bathroom in their own classroom and go one at a time - never is more than one child in the bathroom at the time. And, maybe it's difficult but, when my child is within their care it is their JOB to keep track of every one of those kids - DISGUSTING that this happened - whether something actually happened more than taking off clothes or not - it is scary that 4,5 and 6 yr olds (span of K ages) could be left to their own devices like this - imagine what COULD happen. And what if a child was the victim of another child doing something like this - GOD FORBID - I would absolutely hold the teacher and the school highly accountable.
This is highly disturbing to me. As a mom of 2 with my oldest just slightly over this age I am seeing more and more that there are kids out there that have not been parented the way they should and it could lead to trouble. At this age, the kids are not really capable of watching out for themselves - I am there to watch my kid when he is in my care 24/7 - I hope to God my child's teacher is watching out for him when I can't be there. ESPECIALLY in K!
ETA: Also, not 100% the teachers fault - the administration should be held responsible as well. Maybe the class is too big for her to handle? Maybe smaller class size or an aide was needed.

The title is so misleading and disgusting. They had clothes off , they have no idea what sex really is. Maybe just out of curiosity. How long were they in the bathroom, it could have been3 minutes. If 20 minutes, then yes the teacher should be in trouble. The whole article is disturbing and misleading. The kids need to be spoken to about privacy etc.

Seriously??? My boys are 5 and have no idea what "f*cking" is. And I like it that way! They are babies.
