Keratin treatment- Had it done! (Edited with a pics-5/19)
MrsMerlot's thread about it had me searching and looking into it and with what I found, I was like this is for me!
I went to La Cole Salon in Seaford, Hairdresser Shannon.
They just opened 2 mths ago and have a special till end of May, $150 (normally $300)
They say its a "keratin" treatment but its a Brazilian keratin.
I have to say, its awesome!
I have curly hair and its frizzy. Enough that I rarely wear it curly. So I tend to blow it out everyday.
With that I still get frizz even with a flat iron afterwards.
After putting the product in my hair, its in for 20 min, then she blew out my hair with a paddle brush, nothing else and I couldnt believe the texture and feel of my hair!
Even after she blew it out which only took 10min or so, it was straight and shiny! No Frizz!
She (Shannon) even left a bit wet to show me how it would still curl if I let air dry and how it was actually nice and not frizzy.
Definitely was amazed and happy!
She then ran a hot iron through it, section by section, and I am not to wash for 3 days.
I have PIN straight hair right now but
once washed it will have body.
In the end, I will have non frizz hair that I can blow out without a flat iron or just let air dry and still have a curl.
I can also using a curling iron and still have body.
Very happy with the end result!
ETA: Just wanted to add that depending on how often you wash your hair and products you use, this should last 4-6 months.
ETA#2:
Me- Before, a very tan pic of me, but my hair, just blown out and frizzy.
This is me, this am...the 3rd day of not washing. Its pin straight as you can see.
Even after sleeping on it, its stayed that way.
I will add another shot tomorrow after its washed and I blow it out.
ETA#3: Ok, here is my hair. Washed with a shampoo that contains no sulfate. They sold me Deva Curl POO as well as conditioner.
I only had 15min to blow hair and get ready since I am wallking to work now.
No hot iron, just a brush and blowdryer.
It feels so nice and smooth
Not frizzy either!

Can you have this done if you color your hair? I always color my hair but my hair is also curly and frizzy.

soo excited you like it!! I am getting it done on Wednesday...I cannot wait. I had it done last year and the summer was a breeze to blow dry my hair straight with alittle body!!
and the best part, you can color your hair the same day as you get the keratin treatment done!!

YES!
totally worth it, and thats exactly why i did it!
Plus it was a good price.
I will let you know come Tues after I wash it how it feels and works out.

they leave the keratin product on your hair for 20 min...then blow dry it completely and then flat iron your hair in about 2 in sections until it is perfectly straight.

I was thinking about this too....I saw a place in Massapequa does it for $135 but I don't know much about the place itself or anyone who did it.
So why can't I understand how hair is still curly but straightened? I had JHS and I liked it but it was too straight, esp my bangs. My hair is wavy but it gets frizzy with humidity. How would my hair be after this treatment?

I also has JHS 3 yrs ago.
Hated it...just not for me. I missed my curls.
This treatment what it does is SEALS the cuticle to avoid frizziness. Meaning that you can curl it and have no frizz or blow out your hair straight and not need the flat iron.
Its not a straightening product.

I can blow out my hair with a vent brush by just basically brushing it...and then just quickly run a flat iron over it
nothing like what I use to have to do to blow it straight...plus, it STAYS that way all through the day!!!

Deb, you are awesome -- thank you so much for the review and description of the process.
I'm definitely looking into it, and aiming to get it done by the end of the May to take advantage of the price break!!!

So happy you love it! I also have thick curly hair that frizzes in the summer unless I blow dry and flat iron it. I had the keratin treatment done last summer and absolutely loved it. Whenever I'm done BFing, I plan on having it done again.

and I want to say that is did have a little of the formaldehyde, since I did ask. Not enough where she had to wear a mask or Nothing you could smell.
Actually the treatment smelt good, lol

What type of hair is this generally for? Is it at all damaging?
My hair is puffy and I generally need to blow dry/iron to get results I like....... but my hair has been breaking lately from all the heat styling. Does that make it stronger?
