Just an FYI for all: Party City will only fill 12 balloons per customer...
...they just told me on the phone that we are in the midst of a "helium shortage" and they are not taking phone orders...you must come in to the store and order them, only 12 balloons per customer.
Good to know since I'm traveling to NY this weekend for my sons party. I know now to take my mom with me, as I wanted to order 2 dozen.
Just thought I'd pass it on!

What I normally do is buy the helium tank for like $20.00 & blow them up myself. That way no baloons pop in the car.

yes, there is apparently a GLOBAL shortage of helium
I couldn't pre-order and they cannot guarantee that they will have helium day of

BJ's sells a helium tank with 50 balloons for 20 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Helium shortage? Too many people inhaling it, huh 
Hmm, buying a tank is also an option. I usually see them at Costco, then again, if there's a shortage, maybe they don't even have any.

The United States is in the midst of a helium shortage. Large-scale users are not yet in crisis mode, but helium is in short supply because several overseas plants aren't up and running. And soon, the federal helium program will shut down for nearly two weeks.
About 20 percent of the global market for helium is used to super-cool magnets in MRI machines; another 17 percent is used for laser welding.
Another customer of helium is NASA, which requires a train-car-load of helium for each space-shuttle launch.
Helium balloon fans -- of whatever age -- shouldn't worry about a shortage, however: The balloons suck up only 8 percent of the helium stock.

("fill" is the term they use for filling balloons)
I even checked with Snopes, but it's not there, so it sounds like the stories are true.

I got that last year for Hayley's 1st birthday. I am going to get it again for her party in a few weeks

Strange - I picked up balloons from Party city today - 12 dozen latex balloons and 5 mylar - no problems!

I always do my own tank now bc of the ones popping at home. Plus more than once we've been running around with whatever occasion it is and then someone has to go get the balloons.
I dont get it though, what's the difference if they sell 24 (12x2 people) or 24 (24x1 person) It's not like it's a necessity of life like a gas shortage or something like that.
