is there anything you can do to help a coughing 1 year old
DS is coughing like crazy in his bed...It almost sounds like it hurts his throat?
Anything I can do to help in stop coughing? I have a feeling he is going to wake up soon from it

I'd put on the humidifier to see if maybe it's the dry air making him cough.
I also heard this, but I've never tried it myself. They say to put Vick's Vapor Rub under their feet and then put socks on them. NO idea how it's supposed to help, but my SIL swears by it!

I've read - but never experienced it - to bring him in the bathroom with a hot shower running and LOTS of steam.
Also, the "night air" is supposed to help, so bundle him up and bring him outside.
I think the article was about a croup cough, though. I don't know what your DC's cough sounds like.
Poor little guy... hope he feels better soon!

Thanks guys...I already have the humidifier on. It doesn't sound like a croup cough...he already had that once and the shower thing worked great.
If he wakes himself up I will try the vicks on his feet.

Humidifier and vicks on the chest. I know some people don't like to put it on their chest, but it's the only thing that works for my son. I also get the plug in vicks things. makes the air minty and helps keep the nose clear. He's probably coughing b/c he has post nasal drip.

If that's the case, maybe non-medicated saline nose drops would help? I do that (one drop in each nose after using the nasal aspirator) and the humidifier every night for DS just to help him sleep better.

i did vicks on the feet and it worked. But i used baby vicks and not regular.

Call your ped and ask about Benadryl.
If the cough is being caused by a nasal drip this will dry it up
But the ped will have to tell you the correct dose based on weight- since it's not labeled for use in children under 4.
Our ped recommended this last time she had a cough and it worked amazing!
