Coughing - 2 1/2 year old

My 2 1/2 year old has a really bad cough. He had the slightest of fevers (about 100 degrees) the last 2 nights and a loose bowel movement yesterday but no runny nose. Its really the cough that sounds horrible. We put Vicks on him last night and used the Vicks humidifier. It helped him sleep through the night and I really did not hear him cough. Now that its morning, its back.

Any idea on what I can do for him? Medications and non medications? I will call his ped this am but just wondering how I can make him more comfortable.

Sounds like a cold virus and you will prob just have to wait it out. DD gets bad coughs from post nasal drip. I would do saline for him or steam from the shower to help loosen the mucus.. Vicks and a humidifier at night and elevate the mattress or give an extra pillow if he uses one.

I just picked up this honey elixer at Target made by the company that does the little noses saline. I don't know if it works because I just bought it to have in the house, but you may want to give it a try!
