At 8 weeks I had a CBC - are you sure she isn't confusing the 2?

Does diabetes run in her family or does she have other risk factors?

I had one at 8 wks. I have high sugar in my urine and have been tested ever since high school for Diabetes. The drs just wanted a moderate number before we went any further!! they will compare that number to my test that i will take next week.

there is probably a history in her family, or her urine is repeatedly showing too much sugar.

my mom has diabetes, so my doctor plans on doing my GD test very soon - and I'm only 17 weeks.

i dont know if anything runs in her family..But i'm sure there was a reason for them doing the test already.
I wonder if she'll have to get it done again

I had my glucose test around then too, because my sugar reading came back high in the CBC. I failed the one hour and had to do the 3 hour and failed too. I didn't have to repeat it laer on they just diagnosed me then as Gest. Diabetic.

maybe if the sugars came back high in her first trimester tests - they decided to test?

Nope, not strange. Just means she had a risk factor. I did mine around then too.

Not strange if it runs high in your family and show glucose in your urine.

My co-worker had to go to a nutritionist at 9 or 10 weeks. A lot of people have diabetes in her family.

nope not strange at all - I have PCOS and they gave me one at 10 weeks. They will give you one early and another at around 26 weeks if you had GD before or certain other issues that they want to check your sugars.

If your urine shows a ton of ketones or protein they will have you take a test sooner than 8 weeks. Happened to me. I was Dx with GD at 4 months of my pregnancy.

I am not sure if they would test her due to family history but maybe her urine sugar levels were high. I have 2 sisters that are inciline dependant and my dad was also a diabetic. I know they are keeping an eye on my sugar levels and said they may have to do the glucose test sooner than normal. I am now 16 weeks and everything has been fine so far. But I guess everyone is different.
