Is eating like an animal a sign he's ready for food?

My ped suggested waiting to start solids til 6 months since I am EBF but Ryan is showing signs of being very hungry! For example - yesterday afternoon we had a party - I brought 6 oz expressed milk. Fed him before we left at 12PM, got there and gave him the 6oz at 1:30PM, he was hungry and BF at 3:30, again at 5:30, again at 6:30, etc. And woke up several times last night and I had to feed him twice (1:50AM and 4:30AM) W T F??

Could he be ready for solids or do you think something else is going on? He's 4 1/2 months. I want to listen to my ped's advice but if he's hungry I feel like I should be introducing solids.

Any advice? TIA

I would wait and see if it is possibly a growth spurt.

My dd is 4 months and we just started cereal last week because she was consistently eating over 46 ounces a day for weeks and would have eaten more too. She was waking up 3 times a night and taking 7 ounces each time!! Now that she has started cereal she is down to 36 ounces which I feel is a lot more normal!

I agree with this, wait a few days and seeif it continues, if it does than I would consider starting cereal.

He's been like this for probably 3-4 nights. How long does a growth spurt last?

I agree. I would wait a few more days to see. Athan got like this too - we just couldn't keep him full. We then introduced cereal and all was well with the world again! Chat Icon
