Infant carseat question from an expectant mom to be !

Hi Ladies!

Are there any of you out there with a smaller car... I drive a Honda civic and DH has a 2 door Accord. We are going to register and realized that our cars may be too small to accommodate the carseats :( after reading some consumer reviews. Do any of you have suggestions on brands/models that are a good fit for a small car? We are planning on getting one bigger car before baby (MArch), but I don't think we can swing two!!

TIA

Re: Infant carseat question from an expectant mom to be !

I have a 2004 Honda Accord coupe. The graco snugride fit perfectly behind the passenger seat. VERY easy to get the carrier in & out. For the convertible carseat we have the Maxi Cosi Priori which also fits perfectly but in the middle when rear facing, not behind the passenger. The middle was the only option because to get DS in & out we have to actually hold him as we get in the back seat and then put him in the seat. A BIG PITA but doable. To avoid the hassle of doing this, DH & I agreed that who ever has DS will drive the truck. Since I usually have DS with me, we switch cars and I drive the truck more than he does. So the seat in the accord is more of a back up.

When we turn the carseat forward facing we plan to put it behind the passenger seat because again this will be the easiest way to get DS in & out of the car. But we still keep DS in the truck most of the time.

We both have small cars and went with the Graco snugride with no problems.

We were also able to upgrade to our our convertible carseat (once DS got bigger and outgrew the infant seat) with no problems.

I have a VW Jetta and we had no issues fitting 2 snugrides in the back seat.
