Important re: SHAKE A PAW

4 years ago, before I knew what I know NOW about puppy mills, I purchased my beautiful Italian Greyhound from Shake a Paw.

A girlfriend of mine who is very active in the stop puppy mills community, reamed me a new A$$hole for buying a dog from ANY pet store.

There are no PET STORES that do NOT get their pups from puppy mills. If you buy from a pet store, you are supporting the cruel and horrible reproduction of more puppies into the most horrible conditions you can imagine.

I looked up Dino's family history, and his great grandmother was what they call a Brood *****, which is a dog who is constantly bred to produce puppies, until she can no longer stand on her own two legs.

Shake a Paws pups ARE from puppy mills, and dont let them tell you ANY differently. If you would like more information, FM me, and I will show you all of the proof I have found.

I have spent alot of time researching pet stores and puppy mills, and I can tell you, you DONT want to see, know, or hear about what goes on at a puppy mill.

Most puppy mill dogs come from Oklahoma, Kansas, and the mid west.

Thank you for posting this Chat Icon my heart breaks for all those poor puppies in those pet stores...

I'm sorry I just can't justify someone buying a poor animal just so these sick people who run puppy mills can profit

ETA: There are so many unwanted animals waiting to be adopted

Re: Important re: SHAKE A PAW

As cute as they are in those cages, looking so lonely and just wanting to be loved, not buying them HELPS stop the mass production of sick, defected puppies.

Here is a picture of my Dino who I bought from Shake a Paw, and a picture of my Louie who I purchased from a breeder. They both look equally healthy, but when I brought Dino home, he had kennel cough for 3 months, and was on antibiotics for weeks.

Dino is the dark brown little guy, and Louie is the white and tan.

Re: Important re: SHAKE A PAW

Needless to say, we are NOT buying a dog from Shake a Paw. 12 years ago my family rescued our yorkie from Little Shelter. He was used as a "stud". When we got him you could count his ribs and his spin is still crocked from being in a cage the first two years of his life. He is the sweetest dog.

Even today, 12 years later, if you swing your arm up quickly he cowards in as if you are going to hit him. He has brought us 12 years of happiness and when we got him, he was like a puppy.

Re: Important re: SHAKE A PAW

I am not trying to be a jerk and I really don't know the answer to this so maybe you guys can help. I would think that puppies that don't sell in puppy stores (or puppies that breeders can't sell) - do they end up in shelters? What happens to those dogs?

Re: Important re: SHAKE A PAW

as far as shops go: they go "on sale". some end up dead. some end up crazy.

as far as breeders go: most reputable breeders have waiting lists, therefore if tehy have extra they sell them to those not on the list. if they have extra they keep them until they find a good home.... no breeder would EVER give them up to a shelter
