And yet, not one person has been able to address my question. WHY should I not be afraid? How do you look past Bannon and then say to someone who feared this is the EXACT thing that would happen, its OK. How do you feel about giving a voice and a platform to a bigot, or at the very least some one who runs an alt-right website. You are responsible for that. How do you feel about that man having a place in our government instead of denouncing that type of behavior?

I dont give a sh!t, who is republican, I didn't love Bush, but I certainly didn't fear him being President. I didn't agree with him on policy often, but I dont think he was a danger to this country or unfit to be president. I accepted and respected him as our leader while still disagreeing with policy.

This is completely different.

I will answer that then. I don't think you should be afraid as you weren't afraid (I assume so correct me if I am wrong) when Obama was the president and we had terrorists coming into our country killing people and nothing was done to stop it. There is a huge divide (obvious from the protesters right now) in our country and Obama hasn't even addressed it.

What ARE you afraid of? Why are you letting your fears take over from something that hasn't even happened yet and things you are just assuming will?

Why are you questioning her fear? Isn't she entitled to her feelings? For the record I am afraid as well- not for myself, but for friends and families who are part of communities being marginalized and targeted.

Regarding your comment on 'terrorists coming into our country' and 'nothing being done' where are your facts? Because many of the acts of terror committed in America have been carried out by people who were born here. And statistically, you are more likely to be shot by a white man with a gun. Between 2001 and 2014, 3,412 people died in terrorist incidents, nearly all of them on 9/11. Over 400,000 died from gun violence. source

I only questioned it as how can someone answer a question why she shouldn't be afraid if they don't even know why she is afraid.

I think the continuing of threads like this and the non-stop media incites the fear more. There is always something to fear in this world but I feel too many people are going overboard right now. I hope that I am not wrong as I would never want anything bad to happen but I had more fear of Hillary getting into office. I think the fear is also that he is not a politician and we can't gauge by what he can and will do. Even Obama said to give him a chance. It is not like NO ONE will have been in the political arena to help him out. It will take time and just like any job, he will have to get into a groove.

What did Obama done about the violence and you do know that the biggest shootings, San Bernandino and Orlando were people who had ties overseas. No matter if they were born here, they were not white, normal U.S. citizens.

just wanted to quote the entire post, in case it disappears....

Again I love you for being here!!!!!!!! Always here at the right time, place with the right info!!!!

and the truth comes out.

Racists stick together.

That's the most disgusting thing I have ever read on this site.

Seriously? You do NOT know the difference? It is not a racist statement. It is the fact. I know you liberals don't like facts.

WTF is a "normal" citizen?

Not all US citizens are white. Far from it.

And not that it matters, but the man responsible for killing twenty children at Sandy Hook was white, upper middle class, US born.

I don't like to feed trolls, but the comment about "white, normal citizens" was just too disgusting to ignore. Take your hatred and bigotry and spew it elsewhere, you racist ***.

Wow is all I can really say. Do some research if you really do not understand what I just said. The man from Sandy Hook did not have ties overseas. The men from CA and FL did. Do you NOT see the difference?

Im waiting.....

I will answer since no one else has. I am a republican and while I did vote for Trump, he was absolutely not my first choice in republican candidate but I would not vote for Hillary. I do not support the Bannon appointment, I think that was a mistake as I would have picked someone more unifying but Trump needs people around him that supports him since most of the political climate in Washington does not. I have also read that Bannon was the one who joined the campaign and was able to reign in Trump towards the end o the election, which whether you agree or not, Trump did start to tone it down. Bannon is anti establishment, where his choice of Chief of Staff is very establishment. I heard he was looking for a balance in those views as part of what made Trump appealing to many is that he is not a politician. That politicians have been promising to do things for years and years and nothing has been done to substantially benefit the country.

As far as being afraid, I can’t answer you there because I am not you and anything I say will bring out the “white privilege” bigrade. What I believe is that he wants to make the boarders stronger and get rid of the illegal immigrants that have been convicted of a crime – which I whole heartedly agree with. We are spending tax payers money housing immigrants in jails and paying for the court process. We need to spend that money in other areas, not for people that are not our citizens. The rest of the immigrants, I don’t know and we do not know what his plan is yet, but I do agree that if you are here and want to stay, you need to be on the road to becoming a citizen. For minorities, he has said numerous times he wants to improve the conditions in urban areas to help minorities succeed. I have never heard or read anything he has done against the Jewish faith so I do not know where that is coming from. For the LGBT community. The marriage equality law, it has been mentioned that that is not even on the table to change. Abortion, not touching that as everyone has different beliefs on that subject and neither side is wrong. Muslims, I think he should not have taken the position that he did but if he kept with his immigration stance on vetting anyone who is asking to stay in this country, then he would have avoided that. Terrorism is a real threat and many people think not enough is being done to protect the country. The threat has moved from large scale hits to individualized ones and something needs to be done to try to get a handle on that.

The hate crime report for 2015 just came out yesterday and for 2015 the hate crimes for Muslims were up 67% and hate crimes overall was up almost 7%. That had nothing to do with Trump at all and these racial tensions have been building for a while. I also believe that the majority of the United States, republicans and democrats are not racist. They are groups that do not represent the whole.

Trump’s whole campaign was to buck the political system, which he has done. He believes that the states should have more control over deciding what goes on with its own citizens. I think that is one of the main differences between republicans and democrats. I agree with his trade plans, I agree with his tax plans and I believe that getting jobs back into our country will benefit everyone. Until he finalizes his tax plan it is hard to say exactly how it going to affect you. While he is getting rid of Head of Household, he is also increasing itemized deductions and looking to give more many back for healthcare and childcare.

*blink* What? *blink*

I really cannot believe I read that last sentence.

One shooter in San Bernadino was a US citizen (born in the US) and the Orlando shooter was a citizen and also born in the US.

Please explain what you mean by white normal U.S. citizen?

Someone that was never involved in anything related with Isis or overseas training.

Keep trying to dig yourself out of this...

Just stop. You do not know what you are talking about.

You need to distinguish between actual research and Google university research.

You didn't research anything. You looked up a few things on the Internet.

I was specifically speaking of these last few tragedies. I am WELL aware a terrorist is not just someone who has overseas ties.

I can see though it doesn't matter what you say or do here that if you don't follow the leader and agree with everyone else (always the liberals) then you will be attacked. I know it is easier to call people names and call them uneducated then to actually understand what they have said.

It is a losing cause.

The man from Orlando ONLY referenced isis just before the shooting. He had no ties to them. He wasn't one of them. He was born in queens.

You know, I have had a hell of a week. I'm still shocked trump got elected. I'm more nauseous over the fact that "normal" people voted for him and made it ok to hate and be hateful. I think you're a terrible person. Maybe you should stick to just lurking.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but not one of the "liberal leaders" here has attacked Karen or said anything negative to her. She shared her thoughts respectfully, without calling people liars or telling them they don't do their research or don't like facts or aren't white and normal or any of the other ridiculous things you've said. I may disagree with approx. 100% of what Karen said, but she was asked to share and she did, respectfully and thoughtfully. The issue here isn't (always) an inability to have respectful disagreements. It's an inability to have respectful disagreements with an ignorant bigot. Chat Icon

Well I have seen plenty of name calling on other threads about this election to people that have not agreed with everyone.

What a shame and I can see why people who supported Trump don't want to come on here and post anything.

Please spare me with your "always the liberals" name calling. So ironic... people are calling you out because you threw out race as if being white should matter.

And don't even pretend it doesn't matter what you say. Karen just answered questions. Long, thought out, considerate answers as to why she feels differently than many of us, without calling names, insulting or offending anyone. I know I'm not going to attack her and I'm sure most of us wouldn't think about it.

The difference is, you're posting like a rabid attack dog and saying all sorts of things that show your (racist) bias..

Also, why weren't we afraid 8 years ago? Being afraid of a terrorist attack (which I think most of us have been since 9/11) is a very different kind of fear than what is being discussed here. Most of us knew that Obama wasn't a secret Muslim born in Kenya.

It is one thing to be afraid because you believe your president is soft on terrorism. It's a valid feeling and I won't criticize anyone for that whether I agree or not.

It is a completely different thing to be afraid because you believe your president to be ignorant of how your government works and will chip away at the very foundation of our democracy. Appointing a neo-nazi to such a high position doesn't do much to quell the fear.

Remember, Germany was a democracy too.

This almost word for word. I don't love him, but I liked him better than the other choice we were given.

I pray that he is successful and brings about real, positive changes which we need. Only time will tell but I will be praying for him and our country for the next 4 years.

you are an assshole!! Yep I am calling you names!! Stop being a p@$$^ and post under your real name.

You are a big talker but yet too afraid for anyone to know who you are.

If you can't see that this statement is wrong on so many levels then you are dumb racist.

So only if you are white (which is what Irish or Italian?) you are a normal US citizen, so someone from a Hispanic, african american, indian, chinese etc background is not a normal citizen only white people are.

Yet you have no idea why people are saying that is racist?!??!!

YOU is what is wrong with the country. Do everyone a favor and go back to your country; cause unless you are native american no one is from this country originally; everyone at one point had someone from their family migrate over here!!!

No matter if they were born here, they were not white, normal U.S. citizens.

"White, normal U.S. Citizens"??? Wtf is that??? You are a disgusting racist pig! Big talk coming from someone hiding under a fake screen name!

For everyone who are clutching their pearls, I FIXED what I said, and no, I am not a racist. I am not going to explain myself but if you have half a brain, you can figure it out.

"What did Obama done about the violence and you do know that the biggest shootings, San Bernandino and Orlando were people who were born here but plead allegiance to Isis and followed them."

There is no 'fixing' what you said. Can't un-ring that bell.

You have revealed yourself. I assure you - we have definitely "figured it out."

I sort of want to donate to the NAACP in Jessiesgirl's name.

How come the fixed version is still so grammatically incorrect?
