ideas for a Dec. vaca... Aruba,Bermuda,Bahamas???
updated....
i applied for my passport so it should come in plenty of time!!
so now DH and I were thinking of going to
Aruba
Bermuda
Bahamas..
it will definitely be one of those 3.. but not a cruise...
thank you all SOOOO much for pushing me to get my passport!

Aruba is still very warm at the beginning of December (you can go outside in the evening without a sweater).
We've gone to Cancun then and it's hit or miss - one year it was a little chilly, the next year it was really warm.

you can get a passport in time for your trip. here is a list of places where you can get it within two weeks. just scroll down to the ny location, it's in the city, but if you can do it, it might be worth your while.

I don't think you can go to PR or St Thomas without a passport anymore so if you don't get one, Hawaii is an amazing place!

we are leaving for jamaica on december 1st!!
i can't wait!! all-inclusive, really cheap, airfare was non-stop and inexpensive... white sand beaches - yay!! after the past few months i've had i just want to go and relax by the pool/ocean sipping lemonade  we got a great deal through sandals.com

PS - they have other properties that are not in jamaica and i love the website b/c you can get price quotes and compare to their other hotels.

deanna you can get your passport in time! go to the post office and tell them when you need it by. you can have it in 2 weeks if you wanted to pay extra!
but without a passport, go to St. johns!! my fav island!! its so amazingly beautiful! st. thomas was ok but very over run with tourists. st. john is so secluded and private and amazingly beautiful!!! and all the islands are just a short boat ride away to do a ton of stuff
you can also go to California its warm out there. theres a ton to do there! you can even fly to SF and rent a car and drive up the coast
or theres always Vegas

I thought there was a new rule passed recently. I don't know where I got that from That gives you more options I've never been to either so I can't give a rec, but Hawaii is the best, it's just far!

My vote is for Hawaii- I'm not an expert on Caribbean islands, but from what I've seen, they don't compare in terms of the physical beauty....plus it's a long plane ride, so do it now before kids enter the picture!

FYI I just got my passport it took 2 weeks without expediating it at all!
You totally have time!
And Aruba is beautiful.
ETA: We went to the PO on 9/20 for a 11/5 flight and we have had it for a couple weeks already, it was ready in no time!

The main question here is what kind of vacation you're looking for. Hawaii would be great if you're looking to do a lot of touring and have an action packed trip. On teh downside, you'll have less time for relaxation and hours and hours of travel time. If you guys are really looking to sit on a beach and relax, and maybe do a few excusrsions, than I would stick to the Carribean. It's way easier as far as traveling goes and will still be a welcome warm break from NY winters.
