Filthy & unsanitary maybe for you - but not to anyone in the store. Do you buy your groceries off the floor? ie...veggies & fruit. Weirdo lady.

people are weird... one lady yelled at me for buying ben and jerrys because they are supposingly against the war or the opposit something to that effect..

I do think that some places aren't sanitary for open toe shoes but most grocery stores that I can think of are clean enough. I'd be grossed out if I stepped into a very dirty place wearing open toe shoes. I could never comment on someone else wearing open toe shoes anywhere!!!!! I try not to wear them on the subway, but on a really hot day, I might do it anyway and then really wash my feet when I get home.

Technically, any place with food should not allow open toe shoes, however, the food is WAY off the floor & who the hell is she anyway? I would have slapped her with my flip flop.... friigin nut job

How is open toe shoes more unsanitary than any other shoes?

For all you know, she could have stepped on dog poop and never cleaned it up.

Does she bring special shoes just for the grocery stores, otherwise she is dragging stuff from the "outside" inside the store?

DH said to me in the parking lot "I should have told her that i wasn't wearing any underwear". Lol..

and yes, he was wearing undies! But I'm sure the old lady would NOT have liked that.

Even my 80 year old grandma wears sandals in all stores...

OMG! I would have yelled at her and said it is unsanitary for old ladies like you to be breathing all your old lady germs all over the store! Or the fumes from your frosted hair! She needs to mind her own business.

Umm yeah never heard of that before it isn't like you eat off the grocery floor. I wear flip flops all summer. You should have asked if she was planning on having a picnic. she sounds a little crazy

You should have told her that you can't use your arms, so you need to be able to use your feel to select produce.

Thats insane. If it was unsanitary it would be unsanitary for you, not for anyone else. Her hands were probably dirtier than your feet.
