I took the day off today
The roads dont LOOK bad, but my husband just called me from the road and said its like driving on a sheet of ice. I just dont want to risk it with my daughter and being ready to practically give birth!
Everyone be careful today if you have to go out!!!

I took the day too....I slid down my front walk & turned myself around & skated back into the house. The south shore is COVERED in ice

My husband just tried to drive to work and he couldn't even get off of our road because it's icy and a hill.
So we'll be able to spend Valentine's Day together!

Eh.....he went out to try again and was able to make it, so he's on his way to work. I hope he makes it ok though....he works on the South Shore....

It really is nasty outside. South Shore is covered in ice and I had a white knuckle experience coming into the city. Ice pellets are falling from the sky and the ground is covered. I hope I don't get stuck here.
DH is in the city today though so as long as I get myself to Penn tonight I'll be okay.
Everyone please be careful!

Same with us. He was supposed to go into the city for business but he could barely make it down our block. Not worth the risk and now the LIRR is posting delays. He's working from home today.

Took me 90 minutes to get to work - the LIE was a mess and people were going around 8 miles an hour. It's supposed to get worse with the ice and heavy winds - NO ONE is in today.

I am not risking it today - I am working from home... In the past I have had a few spin outs and it was terrifying when it was just me - but knowing I have a baby that depends on me for safety was a no brainer - there was no way I was going to risk it. I wish I could say it was also a no guilter, but thats just me.... I realized that if this baby had to go to daycare today, I also would not put him/her in the car and drive, so I realized today I'll have to make decisions like these for the rest of my life....
Deep thoughts for a valentine's day. Luckily DH gave me my box of Godiva LAST night!!!

So I felt guilty this morning since the roads didnt look TOO bad, but now when I look out the window, I see just ice on the ground.
And my husband is coming home as soon as his other employee gets in, who is on his way. So the three of us are going to watch movies and have hot chocolate and play games. I guess thats the most romantic Valentine's Day you can have when you got a 15 month old toddler who hit her terrible two's early on your hands!

Good thing you did! Im downtown NYC and I just got blown around...its so scary out there...icy and slippery! All you big preggo girls stay home!

I stayed home for the same reason. I work 25 miles from home and it's just not worth the risk to me. DH is working from home today, too.
