I saw the White House decorated for Christmas! LOTS of pics!!
My good friend works for a branch of the White House, and got an invitation to go to the holiday open house. She had 4 tickets and invited DH and I to go along! And the best part is that we were allowed cameras!! I LOVE taking pictures, and I had sooo much fun! Then we all went out to dinner in DC. It was such a nice night and I was so honored that she invited DH and I to join her. Here are some pics:

Wow...what an opportunity!! I just watched a History Channel special with Laura Bush & the white house.

You definitely should! There are just so many things to do (besides the White House which is fabulous). Although I think you need to ask in advance to go on a tour. I think a congressional representative? This was a special thing for employees and badge holders.
But there are also free museums on the mall, and great restaurants. You'll definitely enjoy your trip!

I didn't see a gingerbread house. Maybe that part wasn't open to us.

GORGEOUS!! I would love to take a tour of the white house some day. I've been to DC a few times and saw it from the street, but have always wanted to go inside.

amazing!!
i just watched a special on the history channel, that portrait of GW is the only original item from the 1st White House before it burned down...Dolly Madison saved it from burning!!
