I Need Some Friend Advice

ok, so me and DH are going to Vegas in like 2 weeks....
my best friend who i havent seen in awhile was going to go with her boyfriend too and we were going to hang out and have fun.....

WELL, she just emailed me that they broke up!!!!
I dont know what to do she mentioned "i still have enough money for vegas but this sux"

i mena i TOTALLY want her to still go... but now im wondering if i am going to have to babysit her the whole time? i would feel SO bad her being by herself. we would totally have fun with her though.... its just like, for example on our anniversary, we want that day to ourselves.

also, should i instead of getting a king get 2 queens and let her stay in our room?

im lost right now

I would not share a room. I would explain to her that you want to be alone with your Dh on your anniversary

I don't know about your situation and am not sure what to say. If it was a romantic trip or a couples trip I would say, "oh, I'm so sorry that you're going through this...we can always plan something later on" and go with your DH.

As for the room...I would NEVER share a room with any friend and my DH. Nor would my friends want to.

sorry jess,

not to be heartless, but this is your anniversary

and on anniversaries, two's company and three's a crowd

especially since you and DH and working out past issues, this trip is important that you have alone time

This is your anniversary trip, right? I think any friend would understand the situation.

Re: I Need Some Friend Advice

Its real simple.

Tell her she needs to get her own room (she was going to do this anyways right?).

Tell her your DH will want to spend private time with you... especially on your anniversary... but on other days as well.

Don't tell her she "can't go". But trust me... reality should set in and she will realize that going with you guys and being the 3rd wheel is just a dumb thing to do.

Unless of course she truly has every intention of doing "her own thing" the entire time there.

Re: I Need Some Friend Advice

If she still wants to go and hang out with you and DH, then that's her choice.

I wouldn't share a room, but if she has the money and wants to go that's her choice. Also, you don't have to feel bad for her. If she minded being by herself with you and DH, then she wouldn't go Chat Icon

I tend to always feel bad for my single friends too, but then they explained to me that they don't mind being with other couples.

If she was planning on getting her own room in the first place... then she should continue to do this.

The only way I let a third wheel into my anniversary trip with my wife... is if there will be some planned 3-way action going on... if you know what I mean. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would tell her straight out - sorry but this trip is about you and DH and your anniversary. If she is a close friend she will understand. In fact if I was her, I wouldnt want to go at this point - Id feel like a 3rd wheel.

Re: I Need Some Friend Advice

yeah i was just SOOO excited to see her.

maybe if she still wants to come she should just ger her own room---like what was originally planned.

then we can meet up and hang out whenever we want.

maybe she could just come for a shorter period of time.

robyn.. i was thinking about that too.

That can be a worse scenario because that can risk them blowing up while on the trip.

Who wants to be around that.... ya know?

Re: I Need Some Friend Advice

maybe she can invite someone else to take her exboyfriends place, maybe she has a girlfriend, or brother or sister that would like to take a trip. that way she is occupied but you can still see your friend.

Re: I Need Some Friend Advice

Please don't think I'm too harsh but I'm only saying what I think most people here are thinking:

Why in the world are you inviting a friend on YOUR anniversary trip??? It's equivalent to taking a friend on your honeymoon.
This is a no-no.

You need time with your DH...ALONE,to feel romantic & sexy & quirky..you get the point, maybe you want to walk around in your "birthday suit" while getting ready to go out..you can't if you have company.
Unless of course, your situation is like Pills fantasy Chat Icon then thats a different story.

Re: I Need Some Friend Advice

it isnt like a special romantic getaway.

its just that we are going away for fun and decided we might as well go around our anniversary.

our anniversary is only ONE day and we planned on spending that day alone together.

but the rest of the week is just fun. why NOT spend a fun week in vegas with your friend?!

they were going to stay in a different hotel nonetheless and we were going to hang out some nights together.

imo vegas is more fun with friends. we enjoyed our time there last yer but said how mcuh fun it would be to go with people.

i dont see why thats so odd?

she lives in CA, we live in NY. she was planning on going to LV this month and so were we so we decided to go at hte same time.

eta: imo, its nothign like taking friends along on your honeymoon!!!
