I need an OB recommendation in New Hyde Park, Manhasset, Lakeville Rd etc.
I prefer a woman and associated with North Shore.
I need to switch where I was going because of a bad experience.

I highly recommend Dr. Susan Alkasab with North Shore Ob/Gyn. She's on Northern Blvd. in Great Neck. I saw her and also Dr. Klein in her office. Dr. Nimaroff delivered my twins via emergency c-section. I had a great experience with the practice. I don't know the phone # off hand but FM if you want it.

Dr. Leah Kaufman was my OB for my first pregnancy. She's in Manhasset and affliated with North Shore LIJ.
I loved her but she wasn't the one to deliver my DD.

Dr. Chung with Northern Obstetrics and Gynocology
She's affiliated with north Shore and she really is excellent. She personally calls me back whenever i call and she personally calls me with ALL blood results!

i go to her too! love her! DH kept wanting to go to my ob appt after i already had DC#1. i told him no and that's too weird b/c at the time, i wasn't preggo with DC#2

Dr. Stephanie Buck-Haskin.
She is in the big medical building located on the corner of Lakeville Rd. and Northern Blvd. I think she has later hours on Wednesday evenings and she is open on Saturday mornings.
The only "con" is there is just one monitor so if there's a lot of preggos who need to be seen, it can be a wait. I always brought a book to read though. Maybe this has changed though. I gave birth in December 2008.
She delivers at LIJ.

I go to Preferred Women's Health in Great Neck (Northern and Lakeville). It's not all women doctors though, but all the doctors are wonderful. Dr. Oppenheim and Dr. Morris Rush are the females are they are both great.

I second that! Love Dr. Morris-Rush when I see her. The group also has an office in Woodbury.
I third that! LOVE the practice and Dr. Rush. She never runs on time she is always late and she admits it, but she always takes her time with you so to me its worth the wait!

Dr. Trongone in Manhasset! HE IS AMAZING!!!!!! I can't say enough about him! My husband loves him too! So genuine - and REAL! Doesn't talk to you in a condescending tone (like my last OB) and will answer ANY and ALL questions you have - no matter how silly you may think they are!

I went to an OB that had NO sono machine.
Then I called another office and they said they had a PT sono technician they call. Isn't that crazy?

I read some bad reviews about her online that she is curt and cold. Also, that she doesn't take the time to explain things to you.
I guess everyone has their own experience. Always hard...what do you believe?

yup..i got all my tests and sono done there. for my DC#1, the only time i went to a different place was when i didn't want to wait for a later appt date. forgot the name of the place but it's very close to their office...northern and community.

i can see why they would say that. sometimes she is b/c she's always so busy and if there's no real issue, she tends to be quick. like the op said, you can call her and she always call you back herself.
i had some health issues before and i was calling her almost every week. she'll always call me back and if she didn't know the answer, she made the effort to find them for me or find people to help me. there are doctors that would just give you numbers to call yourself but she actually spoken to them before giving me the numbers.
i don't know...different people, different experience. good luck!

Dr. Alkasab was also highly recommended to me as well. I too an in the process of looking into a new OB. I know several people that go to that office and they all rave about the doctors.

I too second Dr. Trongone. I know you said you wanted a female, but I would seriously consider him! He is absolutely amazing and so are his nurses and front desk staff. He shares an office with 2 other docs, but he is completely seperate! My husband thinks he is the greatest also!

I saw her back in the early summer. She was recommended to me by my best friend who LOVES her. She was extremely quick with jotting down my history, my internal was her- seriously- (I'm not complaining- stating a fact) shoving the tool up me and twisting and turning in less that 30 seconds and when I said to her that I was trying to conceive she waved her hand and said don't talk to me about it until 4 to 6 months of trying. I wasn't looking for her to be my best friend or talk to me for an hour...just a few minutes to feel like she was giving me a thorough exam.
I scheduled an appointment in with Dr. Trongone for the spring. He came highly recommended from several friends and coworkers. I've never been to a man before but at this point, if I want to give birth, I better get used to other men looking down there!

you read bad experiences about dr chung? i have only had positive experiences with her
i think she does do everything in the office - i am starting my IVF cycle today so hopefully i will know the answer to that question too!
and good luck finding an OB!

WOW i cannot believe she acted like that! i am so surprised! i am sorry she treated you like that!
I have also gone to Dr Trongone (his partner actually delivered me!) and he is fantastic too - the only reason i switched was bc i felt more comfortable with a woman
