Re: I need a programable thermostat...Where and which one?

We got ours through a friend that works in the heating/cooling industry. He informed us that the Lowe's/Home Depot ones are of a lower grade....We had the oil company install ours...

You wont believe it but I saw one at Walmart obviously it would be a self install though.

We bought ours at Home Depot and had our electrician install it. I love it. I'll check the brand when I get home.

Ditto. The first one was free, then we put a 2nd in our bedroom and it was $125.

This is the one that we have...

It literally has 3 wires to connect where your old thermostat was. It even comes with a CD-ROM of instructions. My father installed it in about 5 minutes.

All their reps share diff stories. We called ahead before the technician came to check our furnace, and we said we wanted a digital thermostat, and they charged us only $99 for the actual thermostat and the service for installation. They had it done in no time. I'd call them again, Kathleen and ask them.

Re: I need a programable thermostat...Where and which one?

our oil company installed it free of charge

we bought 3-4 different ones because it depends on the wiring in your home and what type of heating arrangement you have. ask them and they'll tell you what to get. honestly, a thermostat is a thermostat. as long as it does what you want, the brand probably shouldn't matter. we bought ours at home depot

We got ours at Home Depot and DH installed it himself. It was relatively simple.

Re: I need a programable thermostat...Where and which one?

ours is a honeywell- we got it at home depot. i think they have 5-2 or 5-1-1. which means you can have a thermostat that has one setting for 5 days ( the days you work) and then another setting for 2 days ( the weekend) OR you can have a 5-1-1 which is one setting for the 5 week days, one setting for saturday and one setting for sunday.... i guess it depends on your usual schedule.....

DH nstalled ours himself in about 5-10 minutes. i think they're really simple to do yourself and they come with really good instructions....
