I have the worst migraine after the worst day....
DH and I got a chocolate labrador about 4 years ago. It was before we moved in together, so he lived at my parents house. He turned 4 in May. When we moved in together we felt bad taking him from my house (where there are lots of other pets) to an empty apartment so he kinda became a family dog. We always took him to the beach and did special things with him. We then got 2 small dogs during the time we lived together before we got married. Hunter (the lab) loves our other little dogs...we used to take them all to do things together.
We are now living in the downstairs of my parents house and Hunter has been loving it. We are upstairs with him a lot, he is down with us at night. We thought he was acting funny (very quiet) so we took him to the vet. He was having kidney failure out of nowhere and we found out within 2 days that his kidneys were only functioning at 30 percent, and that he was terribly anemic. I had a black lab my whole life that we had to put to sleep at 14. That was a terrible time, but I feel like she lived a long happy life.. We had to put Hunter down this morning and the pain I feel is so intense. My heart hurts. To watch him walk out the door with my parents and know he wasn't coming back just killed me. I spent all day crying, we buried him under a special bush outside. I feel like he got jipped. He was fine one day, and then sick the next. The vey was crying because he just couldn't understand why a 4 year old would be so sick, so fast, and without many signs. There was absolutely nothing we could do for him. The vet thinks he was just born this way with bad kidneys.
Anyways i'm rambling on but I just can't sleep...have a terrible migraine...I really don't know what to do with myself. I wanted to see him interact with my boys who will be here soon. Ugh, I have dealt with people dying better than this!
DH wants to use Hunter for the boys' middle names. I don't know, is that weird to have them have the same middle name?

 I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I don't think it would be weird it you gave your sons the middle name Hunter. As long as you and your husband want it, go for it. It doesnt matter what other people thing

I'm so sorry, that's so sad. I love the idea of using his name for a middle name for both of them. My husband and his brother have the same middle name (family name) and my friends boyfriend and his 3 brothers all have the same middle name.

It hurts sooooooooo much when we lose one of our friends.... I had a Hunter (rottweiler) who was such a special part of our family and when we had to put him down for cancer.... I was inconsolable.
I think that it would be in great memory that you give your boys Hunter as a middle name.
BTW - Hunter's a beautiful boy!

i am so so sorry for your loss. i know what it's like to lose a dog that young, it is the most heartbreaking thing because it is just so unfair. i love the idea of using Hunter as a middle name, BTW.

I am so sorry! We had to put down our family dog of 15 years last spring so I can understand that pain you're feeling. It's awful!! And I think it'd be sweet to use Hunter as a middle name. I always think it's sweeter when people use names with significance to them.

I am soooo terribly sorry! Losing a dog feels like losing a human!! I lost my black lab 3 years ago and it still hurts at times....it sux....just know that while he was here you treated him like gold and he enjoyed every second of his life with you!!! Hang in there!!!

I am so sorry When I was 15 years old we had to put our 18 month old GErman Shepard down because she was having 12-15 grand mal seizures a day and we couldn't control it with medicine. It was heartbreaking. My dogs, as annoying as they can get at times are part of my family so I understand the pain you are feeling. Just know that "Hunter" has crossed over "Rainbow Bridge" and is waiting for you happy and healthy!
RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
