I am so happy that more artistic photogs are popular!

I hired a photojournalist for my wedding...(shout out to Andreas Rentsch!) and at the time, a lot of people were using more traditional photographers. It is so nice and refreshing to see work like that of Angelica Glass and others becoming more widely used. It's such talent! I don't think Andreas could ever compete with a Duet (who I find amazing), but still, it's nice more brides go this route.

I agree. We went to Patken last night for my sister, who is getting married next year. The photo style & their layout style were so artistic & different. I loved it.

I also had a photojournalist for my wedding & I thought it was the best thing ever. I love my album.

I won't lie...there was a point when I found my pics a little odd, a little too different, but I came to really see WHY I hired him and why they were cool. I love Christina Bohn, Something in Blue, Patken....so different.

I went with 2 photojournalists...I just got my proofs back and they are amazing. I asked for absolutely NO posed shots. I love every single picture..they really capture the real emotion.

His family requested a posed family shot as well. I don't do well posed...I get all awkward, I smile strange. So those ones, I'm not crazy about.

I had the best of both worlds... posed and photojournalistic shots, which we felt was necessary on our wedding day.

But I agree lana, I love seeing the work of these artistic photogs, they are amazing!!! It makes me want to do 1-year anniversary pics. Chat Icon

I used Patken and I specifically told them that I wanted very few posed shots. I just can't stand how I look with a phony smile plastered on my face. Most of our shots are photojournalistic. I love this style!

Re: I am so happy that more artistic photogs are popular!

I wish that when I got married photojournalistic pics were the rage. I had a tradition album and my pics were great but I wish there were more artistic shots.

My photographer did some and that was not even done back then and I love those. I have 3 shots in my album like that.

We also didn't have digital..sounds ancient, but I know people who got married 4 years ago that didn't have digital.

Andreas did not shoot digital at the time...now he does. He is very old school.

Me three!

I look so awkward in posed shots so having a more photojournalistic-style was a preference. I think those types of photos are timeless.

Me to. I love photojournalists...I am using an awesome one that also happens to be a close personal friend of my FH for my wedding also.

IMO traditional photog can be done by nearly anyone.

I did this also- I have a nice mix- and the photo journalist got some of the same shots as the regular photo- but from a different angle- they are some of my favorites

I agree with you Lana. I got shots of random things that I thought were funny at first, but now really appreciate. Photojournalism captures so many little details of your day..

My photog doesn't shoot digital.... we actually wanted a film photog.

ETA: we wanted actual negatives.
