I really hope that it does not hit LI. We are traveling down this weekend for my brother's wedding on Friday and I do NOT want to get stuck there on Sunday!!!!!
With all of the current forecasts, it won't hit LI until the middle of next week, give or take. By this Sunday it looks like it will be around North Carolina or so.
The forecast changed drastically from the 8am prediction to the 11am prediction. It went from hitting LI around Tuesday, to now being forecast to hit on Sunday....
I'm showing it in SC on Sunday. At least that is what the map the weather channel just put out shows....

I've been following the NOAA site. Their 8am forecast is probably what you're seeing on the Weather Channel. They just updated their forecast a few minutes ago.

It was moving so slowly before
That's a good thing as if it hits us it will hit us and get out quickly.

The latest extended models actually shows the hurricane looping around and hitting the Bahamas a second time and possibly south florida a second time.

For those on the NYC Disney Magic cruise Friday, I just saw this in my Disney group. It looks like your cruise will be going to Canada now. I was just reading how some models are showing it hit Florida and then loop back around and hit it again! Crazy, I have family in Jacksonville and near Daytona, both right on the water. Praying for everyone there!

I also read this news on a FB cruise group. I'm scheduled on the 22nd Magic and am hoping Castaway doesn't sustain any major damage or will be fixed up by the time we go

They do have cruises with Canadian ports...there are lots of cruises to there..I guess people like it there? LOL. Halifax, etc. I dunno, doesn't sound fun!! and Monday is Thanksgiving for them, so nothing is even open when they are in one of the ports. I would be beyond mad that I was prepared to go to the Carribbean and warmth and ended up in Canada in the cold!

My dad headed to the west coast yesterday. Aunt, uncle and cousins are heading to St. Pete in a little bit.
This one is really fcking scary.
My parents took a direct hit from Charlie in 2004 and I was there a day later for cleanup. It was like a warzone.

I hear ya. Most of my family is in Miami, Key Bis Cayne and W. Palm. I was down there the day after Wima hit. That was a fricken disaster. What FL goes through after a storm is pure hell.

My mom was living in Deltona during Charlie. She said it sounded like a freight train coming over the top of them. No real damage to the house (just some roofing), but lots of trees down and they lost power for almost 3 weeks. She sold the house last year and told me last night she was so thankful that she isn't down there now (she lives in Georgia).
I have a lot of friends who are in the path of the storm and I'm really worried about them. The damage is going to be so bad.
I drove through Homestead, Florida, about a year after Hurricane Andrew hit. I couldn't believe it. There were either brand new buildings (just a few) or piles of rubble (a lot). There were no mature trees. They had planted some small palm trees. It looked like a wasteland.
This is a scary storm.

Just read that at least 108 people were killed in Haiti by Hurricane Matthew. So so sad.
