HSG tomorrow - Update

UPdate

Okay - I am FURIOUS right now!!!! I found out that my right tube is completely blocked and my left is swollen. I had all those IUI's at that "other" RE!! I am still okay for IVF because the left tube is open, but Dr. Kenigsberg said that I probably could have had 100 IUI's and still wouldn't have gotten PG. Chat Icon
His exact words "They call themselves a Center For Excellence, but I certainly wouldn't"
I can't tell you how friggin mad I am - I want my damm money and year back!!! I could have a baby by nowChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

OH yeah...the test was really easy - no problem at all and I am back at work!

Re: HSG tomorrow

I was on antibiotics. don't remember how many days - maybe starting day before and continue for three days? don't really remember. I THINK it was doxycycline. definitly take some motrin before, it really hurt.
About going back to work - I was feeling shaky for about an hour afterwards, and I fell asleep when I got home - just worn out from the stress, i guess.
anyhow, good luck. the procedure itself only takes a couple of minutes, and they'll tell you results right away

Re: HSG tomorrow

first off, good luck. For me , it wasn't too bad @ all, only had some minor af type cramping - I did pop a bunch of advils 1hr. before going in.
I went by myself and drove myself home after.

The worst part was waitingChat Icon
As far as going ack to work, see how you feel after. You may not find the test painful at all.

As far as antibiotics, I was not told to take any.

Re: HSG tomorrow

I'm having one in a few days. I haven't gotten the exact date and time yet from the dr. He has given me an antibotic and a painkiller. He also told me to take 800 mg of Advil before the procedure.

I'm not sure about going back to work since I haven't had one before. Good Luck!!Chat Icon

MIne was years ago, but I am pretty sure I was also on antbx. I went to work afterwards but it was several hours later, and I was glad that I was able to go home first.

Re: HSG tomorrow

I wasnt on antibiotics but I hear its more common to actaully BE on them.

I didnt go back to work but mine was painful and I felt a little tramatized after..although I seemed to have been in the minority with the pain.

Its a nice quick test....I hope your results are nice CLEAR tubes and a perfectly shaped uterus Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: HSG tomorrow

Good luck!!!

I didn't have antibioitics and I didn't go back to work either. I guess I could have but I was exhausted from nerves and felt I earned a "sick" day.

Re: HSG tomorrow

Gerty -- First of all good luck - hope those tubes are A-OK!

I was on antibiotics.

I took some Midol before and after. Not painful for me.

I went right back to work. But then again, where else COULD I go?? LOL. I think you will be fine. If not you can always call in. Where are you going for it?

Re: HSG tomorrow

I didn't take antibiotics for my HSG. He just told me to take 2 Advil 2 hours before and 2 Advil 1 hour before, which, of course, I forgot to do. I took 4 Advil 30 minutes before. Chat Icon

Re: HSG tomorrow

I took antibiotics for 3 days before. I went to work after my HSG. Take a few motrin before and you'll be fine. For me it wasn't bad at all....the waiting was worst than the procedure. Good Luck!

I hope all goes well. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had one in July and wasn't on antibiotics. I took off for the entire day but honestly, once the test itself was over, I was fine physically. And thank God, no infection. Keep us posted! Chat Icon

Re: HSG tomorrow - Update

Just proves again that you have to ask for the tests look at the reults basically be your own Dr and pay for these people to take your blood, etc. I was telling my OB how when i had my miscarriages Dr's were actually mean to me...MEAN like I did something wrong!!

Re: HSG tomorrow - Update

OMG that is so frustrating!!!! At least you have a diagnosis now though and won't waste any more $$$ on IUIs.

I'm glad the test was easy for you.

Re: HSG tomorrow - Update

I was in the EXACT SAME PLACE last year - in fact I had my HSG done in early Dec to discover that one tube was blocked....I know how you feel - the money is one thing...but losing a year on wasted IUIs...Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: HSG tomorrow - Update

I have been running in every so often to see if you posted and I just saw your update -
glad the procedure wasn't too bad.

As far as the news you received-Chat Icon
that suc ks that you waisted your time, emotions and $$$$ with your previous Doctor. That is absolutely disgraceful, I would be balistic as well.

Thank god you are now on the right path and have the information necessary to proceed. I am happy that you are now going to be able to move forward

Re: HSG tomorrow - Update

I would write a letter to that other place, heck we can all sign it. And I would ask for money back. You probably wont get it but I would let them know you are pizzed. I cant believe they never did an HSG.

As for IVF, tubes open or not makes no difference so dont fret about that. The IVF completely bypasses the tubes.

Glad the test was easy for youChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
