How much to extract a tooth on a dog? (need vet recs?)

My parents dog (large 65lbs - if that matters) cracked a took and it needs to be extracted.

The vets office wants $1000

Does this seem like a lot? I know they would have to sedate her but 1 tooth?

I had my cat neutrered and 4 teeth removed and blood work done at one time and i was charged less that $300.

Anyone have any recs? My parents live in Massapequa

I don't have recs or prices but what I've always heard about why dog dentistry is expensive is because there aren't a lot of them out there. They're like a specialist. Regular vets don't do this, so you won't get regular vet prices.

Also, cat prices and dog prices are a lot different. For what you paid for your cat for all that stuff, I paid more for just a neuter on my dog.

I hope he gets treated and is on the mend soon! Chat Icon

My vet had to remove my MILs yorkies teeth (all of them) because they were so rotted down. The dog was a stray when my MIL got her.

It's a little far, but we use Mt. Sinai Animal Hospital with Dr. Robert Cardinali. He is a sweet heart and I love his practice.

I just used Dr. Carmichael at Veterinary Medical Center Long Island in West Islip.
I was referred to him by my vet @ Hawkins Ave Animal hospital because my chihuahua needed a specialist and they were afraid the infection went to her jaw bone.
I was very happy with the treatment she received there. They seemed a little pricey, but maybe you can go there for a 2nd opinion.

My vet at Hawkins Ave Animal hospital took care of my other dog who needed 2 teeth pulled and we were charged about $900.

Tell your parents to call LIVS in Plainview - if they can't do it, they can recommend someone who can. $1000 is probably mostly for the anesthesia. Chat Icon
