He will not be taking time off. He is the boss so really he can come and go as he pleases.

I don't expect him to take time off and he didn't with DS. I don't need him around.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?

nope, my DH is an hourly employee so anytime he takes, he looses some pay.

He works two jobs, he will just probably work during the day while I'm in the hospital (take the whole day off for the first day of birth).

He really wont' take time. My mom, sister and MIL will come by to help me out the first week or two.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?

Our company (we work for the same company) gives 2 weeks parental leave.

Our plan is this:

He will obviously take off when I have the baby, while I'm in the hospital and then another 2 days once we are home. He will use his PTO time for that.

The first 2-3 weeks I'm going to have help (My mother, my sister, my MIL). Once all the help is gone, DH will then take his 2 weeks of parental leave as he has up to 90 days to use it after the birth of the baby.

He doesn't get any "leave", and he probably won't take any time off for an extended period. Maybe a couple days here and there, but going by what friends and family say, unless he really wants to be home with me, he doesn't need to be, and since I don't get paid maternity leave at all, I need him to make money more than I need him home. If I do decide I need him, he'll just take some days.

He doesn't get paternity leave, but will take 2 weeks off (vacation time) when the baby is born.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?

my parents are coming in and staying with us from FL for abuot 2 wks so we will be covered with the 2 babies coming home...DH and I are both trying to figure that out now....probably won't reallyt ake extended time off until my parents leave..otherwise it will be 4 adults sitting at 2 sleeping boys LOL....Once they leave he wants to try and get one weekday off a week to spend time with them ..he doesn't want to miss out on everything because of work

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?

dh will probably take a few days off right after the baby is born. he doesn't get paid paternity leave, so i'm thinking a week (MAYBE two) is the max - that also depends on his boss and whatever projects they have though (he's pretty much the only one who does what he does there).

He'll probably take the first week - and then another week or 2 later on

My Mom wants to take a week or 2 and I'm sure my MIL (who doens't do anything all day) will want to be around as well ........

He does get paternity leave but he is a commission only sales guy so he won't make money while he is gone.

He's going to take a week off anyway.

DH ownes a seasonal business, he usually starts back up in march, so i guess depending on the weather. he will still have to work, but if the baby comes in Feb ill have a better chance of him being home for a few days.

DH has his own business so can pretty much do what he wants. When I come home my mom is staying here so I think DH will be coming and going as needed.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?

Probably a week just to get us all settled. Our normal schedule is that he takes care of DD during the day and works PT evenings. His job doesn't care about his hours so he will see when the kids nap and will probably work 5 hours, part of it being their naptime (ie lunch to dinner).

DH doesn't get paternal leave. He's taking 3 weeks PTO. It's not necessary but we want to be together and get used to such a big change in our household! He'll still have 2 weeks PTO to take during the year. My mom will probably take a week off after DH goes back to work and my dad will probably take time off as well, just to spend time with the baby.

Re: How much time is your DH taking off when the baby is born?

he doesnt get paternity leave. He works construction so if he doesn't work, he doesn;t get paid. He will probably just take a few days when I am actually giving birth/coming home from hospital.
