How many hours a week do you work?

I average 55 hours a week (5 days) no lunch break. My commute into work is about a 25 minute drive and thanks to wonderful LI traffic my commute home is a minimum of 45 minutes. So basically I am out of the house from 6:15am-6pm.

My midwife wants me to cut back starting next week (I'll be 31 weeks next Wednesday).

And DH has been asking me to cut back the hours since I got pg.

Not sure I'm ready to yet.

My tentative last day of work before maternity leave is June 15th (2 weeks before my due date).

How many hours a week do you work and when do you plan on cutting back and/or go out on maternity leave?

edited to add - my midwife wants me to cut the hours back mostly because I've started swelling pretty bad on my ankles. My blood pressure is perfect and no protein in my urine - but she is afraid I am on the cusp of developing preeclampsia.

Why dont you get a lunch break??

I work 40 hours plus any overtime available
I can take work home on the weekends...

I hope to work up until I give birth
I work 8-5 everyday. it takes me about 20 minutes to get to work and no more than half an hour to get home

I leave the house at 6:40A and get home no earlier than 7P

i work 8:15 - 4:00 every day with an hour lunch break. right now i have about a 30 minute commute, but hopefully come july, my commute will be closer to 15-20 minutes.

i want to try and work until the end, but i will have to stop going out into the field in a month or so (i do a lot of home visits all over nassau county for my job). i plan on using my sick and vacations days whenever i think i need them so i don't burn out.

I worked 40 hours per week commute about 30-40 minutes each way. I never cut back and worked until 2 days before DS was born. My job isnt physically demanding so I didnt see the need to cut back.

I'm almost 36 weeks. This week I will have worked 57 hours + commute = 60 hours out of house! It really took its toll on me this week. I am now sick! My DH wants me to cut back too. But, next week and the week after I can't, I'm so busy and have so many meetings, projects, etc. I'll cut back a bit at 38 weeks.

are you on your feet a lot?

I sit at a desk all day. But am out of the house from 7:30AM - 6:30 with a 1 hour commute both ways included in that time

i work 35-40 hours a week. my commute from PA is 2 hrs coming in and 1 hr 45 min going home. It stinks.

I would worry about my baby before work(thats easy for me to say though because I work from home and am ver autonomous) Do whats best for your health.

I work 37 and a half hours per week with a 10-15 minute commute. I plan on working until i give birth

No overtime-sitting on my butt
15-20 minute commute each way-I carpool

I work at least 40 hours a week and have an hour commute each way.

Listen to your midwife and your body and try not to push yourself!

I have my 2 DDs during the day then I go to work @9pm-1 or 2 am so I work about 20 hrs a week but the hrs I work I get no rest ! and Im on my feet the whole day and night

i would make sure its 40hours a week and NO more and see how that goes.. and if that still isnt good, maybe cut back another 10 hours bringing it to 30 hours a week...maybe that would help? I dont want to see you end up with any health issues b/c of your job and risk baby p's or your health. Listen to your body :) Im sure you will make a good decision and if your boss doesnt like it, too bad... this is your health we are talking about! maybe you can even offer again about taking some work home if it is THAT important :)

hey jess!! I work 40 hours a week and take an hour lunch every day. I would definitely cut down to 40 hours and see how your boss reacts, he's going to have to get used to it!!! Your job will always be there, you need to take care of you and the baby right now

40 hours per week. I am lucky because my commute is very short. I only have a 4 mile drive each way.
These past 3 months have been very busy and I often stay an extra hour or work through lunch or both. It was getting to be tooo much so for the last 2 weeks I make sure to take my full hour lunch break and I LEAVE work to take it so I don't do any work during my break.

I work about 40-45 hours a week.


My full time is 35 hrs a week including lunch. My part time (same location) that is very flexible, can range from 5-15 hrs a week; depending on my work load. Travel time its about 35 mns on a good day.

Get up at 5:45, to work by 7, work until 3.

NC is the only state I know of where the elementary schools start early and the high schools start late.

My commute is about 20 minutes each way and I work about 7 hours a day, but they exhaust me.
I plan on working up until my due date unless the doc tells me otherwise.
