how long after you quit a job do you call them for your $? UPDATE!!!
i quit my job in the beginning of November.
i wrote a letter asking to please fwd my checks to my address.
not only was i already owed money since october, but its almost december and i still HAVE YET to recieve any checks.
how long before i start to raise hell?

really? i was going to wait until mid December, but maybe i will stop by tomorrow and talk to her.
They are really inconsistant there with paying their employees.... I have my last two pay stubs.

eta: and these are just the ones i have actually kept track of!
now im wishing i paid more attention to them

Tell them that if you do not get paid all money that is owed by nex Friday, you will be filing a complaint with the Department of Labor. (It's a simple process.)
Then, if you do not get paid, go online to the NY DOL and download the complaint form, fill it out and submit it. They will be penalized by the DOL for not paying you consistent with the wage and hour laws.

I wouldn't leave there without a check in my hand or a letter declaring that I will be receiving my FULL pay within one week from that date. They have some nerve.

I completely agree.
Tell them that according to New York State's Department of Labor's Employment Laws/Labor Standards failure to pay wages may also require an employer to pay interest and civil penalties on unpaid wages. If you decid to sue them and the failure to pay wages is found to be willful, the employer may be required to pay an additional amount of 25 percent of the claim in liquidated damages.
That alone should get you a check by tomorrow.
Also if they deduct anything that you didn't authorize, they'll be up a creek without a paddle.

thanks everyone.
they did the same thing to my friend... she was owed ALOT more $ than me though, but she made a stink and walked out with cash instead.
im hoping this is what happens.
its not muhc money, but its still money and its almost christmas and its principal!

UPDATE:
i just called her. she was really nice. she said "i have two here, but there was 3 so she must have sent one out"
so i said "well, will you be around tomorrow so i can pick them up?"
she said "well, i'll just send them out tonight, i have bills to send out anyway"
so i said "Ok, great thanks.... i may be around tomorrow so maybe ill stop in for a drink"
we had small chat and that was that.
3 paychecks sounds about right. im owed 6 shifts and we get pais biweekly there
