how is East Meadow High school?
i know i asked about east meadow a zillion times but i was just talking to my cousin-on-law yesterday. she grew up there..said that it was a nice community but the high school is not the greatest.
i'm just worry since schools are the priority to where we buy our next house. east meadow is 1 area we're really considering.
any thoughts on this? you can fm me if you're more comfortable that way.

I graduated from EMHS in 1996. It was a good school. No problems or anything that I would be concerned about.
A good SD is very important and I would definitely consider moving back to East Meadow. I have a couple of friends that work at the high school and they say it's still a good school.

I am also a EMHS graduate (96 too!) and I have a younger sister who is currently in the high school. I think it's a great school. DH and I bought a home here so our children will be going there as well.

EM resident here...
Just curious what types of examples she gave to justify that the HS isn't that great? Test scores? Classes? Teachers? Population? Administration?
To say a school "isn't that great" is a very broad statement and could be giving a school a bad reputation, when that is not the case.
I did a lot of research before moving to this community. Personally I disagree with the statement.
eta: I don't want you to think my post is attacking you in ANY way...I know you're just asking a legitimate question.

Also depending on where you are, i think some of East Meadow goes to Clark HS?

The Salisbury section of Westbury and a part of Levittown go to Clarke HS. It's smaller than EMHS, but I think the statistics are comparable.
I've only heard good things about the school district. It was part of why we moved here. (But I think there are very few truly "bad" districts on LI). DH and I don't have children yet, but my neighbors seem very pleased with the schools.

I student taught there and thought it was a good school. I know the music program is excellent. There were many honors students and overall the kids seemed hardworking.

I think the superintendent got a lot of people upset with the last contract negotiations - he was pretty terse with the community (ie - if you don't like it - move) that may have left a bad impression for some.
