how do you shower when home alone?

I didnt get a chance to shower this morning before DH left. DD is almost 4 weeks old...can i put her in the rock in play sleeper by the shower while she is sleeping and sort of watch her while I shower?

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

At that age, I would leave DD in her crib, bassinet or bouncy seat since she didn't move much. I never brought her into the bathroom with me for showers.

I just left DD wherever at that age: crib, pack and play, play mat, swing.

Now that she is 10m, I leave her in the swing or high chair with some toys and the TV on.

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

At that age, I would either roll her bassinet by the bathroom door that way I could hear her if she woke up, or put her in the bouncy seat in the doorway.

i felt nervous leaving her in another room or on the floor alone, i don't even like leaving her alone if i need to run upstairs. I put her in the bouncy seat right outside the shower door.

I put her bouncer seat in the doorway. If she's napping, I just bring leave the monitor on the counter so I could hear if she starts to cry.

THat's the easiest time to take a shower. Wait till she's on the go! Chat Icon

She'll be fine. Go and shower! At that age I put DS in the bassinet, swing or bouncy. Worst case is she cries and you rush out a little faster. Nothing will happen to her if she's safely in something.

Oh, and at that age when he wasn't rolling over he was fine in the middle of our bed with no sheets or blankets around. He slept better there so I would quickly jump in and out of the shower. I told DH once I did that and he was shocked. THis was after I stopped b/c then he was moving.

Now at 2 I have to shower early or after he goes to bed. LOL

I have a question? If you bring the baby in teh bathroom, do you stop showering when he or she cries?

LOL once, my mom said "oh were you in the shower, i thought i heard the baby cry"

I was just like, ok that stinks - but i wasnt stopping my shower and she got over it by the time i got out anyway Chat Icon

no, i'd peek out the curtain & smile or be silly or something & it'd stop pretty quickly once she saw i was nearby.

This is what I do. If I hear her cry I speed it up, but if she's content, I take my time, shave, etc. If it was up to me I'd spend hours in the shower to relax.

I try to shower at night when she is asleep.
Otherwise, at that age, I'd shower when she was either in the crib or the swing

If the baby is sleeping, I don't think it's necessary to bring them in the bathroom. I guess I felt that way for my first child but now that I have 2 I have seen the light!Chat Icon They survive the few minutes without us even peeking at them!Chat Icon

Re: how do you shower when home alone?

1) Wait until she's sleeping safely in her bassinet/crib, and sneak off like a thief.

2) If she's awake, park the bouncer in the bathroom and shower with the curtain open. I actually hauled the exersaucer in the bathroom with me yesterday so I could shower!

I agree. I didn't bring them in the bathroom with me...I would just put them in whatever and leave the door open. Usually I tried to shower while they were sleeping.

Sometimes DD stays in the swing while I shower....if she is calm or sleeping. Otherwise I put the boppy pillow on the floor of the bathroom and leave the door to the bathroom open so it doesn't get too hot.

She is usually calm b/c she likes the sound of the water. If she cries.....I sing. I sound great when I sing in the shower!

At that age I would leaving her in the fisher price rocker chair and leave it right outside the bathroom door so I could hear her and see her.

Now that she is 9.5 months I put her in the pack and play with some toys and mickey mouse on the tv.
