Holy Painting Estimate!

I just got an estimate on pretty much the whole house - $4,300!!!!!!

So, we are having him do just a few rooms and we will do everything else ourselves. What a bummer.

Re: Holy Painting Estimate!

that's about right. Initially we spent about that on half the house! We also had to have the living room walls fixed and the fireplace sandblasted.

Painting is expensive...but I would rather pay that paint myself!

Re: Holy Painting Estimate!

Wow that is a lot. I didn't even get estimates because we knew we would do it ourselves. We only have one bathroom and the basement left to do. Chat Icon

Ours was double that because we have so much trim and moulding.

I actually just got the estimate for kicks because I wanted to know how much it would be.

Re: Holy Painting Estimate!

Yes, that price does sound right to me. It costs a lot to paint hte whole house.

Re: Holy Painting Estimate!

we hired a handyman to do it. It was way cheaper than that and he did the molding for us in our bedroom. He was 25 bucks an hour for painting and 35 for molding. maybe 2000 for 5 rooms??

Re: Holy Painting Estimate!

I got a similar estimate-- about $3400 for my 1100 Sq Foot apt-- and that was WITHOUT doing the kitchen and the bathrooms.

Unbelievable.

That was probably the one thing that I had total sticker shock on when we bought our place. We ended up doing some ourselves and found someone else to do it much more reasonably.

DH and I primed the LR and DR today. I am painting tomorrow too. My back and hands are killing me, and I am exhausted. If we had the $$, I would hire someone.

Re: Holy Painting Estimate!

We paid $1400 for every room in our house including trim and doors except 1 room. And we have 12 ft ceilings in the entire house.

We hired a person that does it on the side so it worked out sooo much cheaper for us.

It's my BF's father. He has done my parents house so I know he's good, and telling by the others who have shared the costs of their jobs - pretty reasonable too. He is painting everything (walls, ceiling, trim)except the small room in the basement and the 2 bathrooms bc they are in good shape and I like the current colors. Approx 1800 sq ft. FM me if you want his info.
