how do you estimate what to sell a painting for ?
I have a painting that was in my house when we bought it, dont know who painted it or anything about it.
Id like to sell it but have no clue whether it will go for $5 or $50...
is it just a matter of demand and luck?

bring it to an appraiser (if it looks like it's worth something..)
my ex brought home an etching, which i immediately fell in love with (was a pic of a mother and daughter  )
i suspected it was worth something so i took it to an appraiser and found out it's worth in the ballpark of $5,000 
if not, then maybe go on ebay and see if you can find some similar paintings

Look for a Signature!
Then research the Artist Online!
Maybe look on Ebay for listings!
