At what age do they usually start doing this?

DD started holding hers at 3 months. I think it's different for all babies.

Re: Holding their own bottle

DD tries to hold her own...but not quite there yet. She will be 6 months on Sunday. I figure she will get it in the next few weeks.

I bought the handles that go on the bottle to make it easier for her at about 5 months.

Re: Holding their own bottle

Hailey is 8 months and I think she probably could do it but she doesn't. I think she just likes mommy to do it for her so she can play with her ears while she eats, lol.

OMG!! That is soooo Ali - and if it is isn't the ears it is her hair or fingers.

Re: Holding their own bottle

My lazy kids started when they were like 14 months old!!! After they learned how to master the cup, they decided they would hold their own bottle.

Same here. If she's lying down propped on her boppy, she can hold it and drink it, otherwise, at nearly 10 months, she can't hold her own.

Ethan started holding it at 6 mos. Now at 7 mos., if he drops it he can't pick it up and throws a fit.

Re: Holding their own bottle

DD is 9 mos and she tries when she feels like it but she also has trouble lifting it up high enough so she ends up holding onto it but I have to keep it propped up so it's not like she's really doing on her own anyway. Chat Icon

Kerri could hold her bottle at 5 months...but is she consistent...uhhh no. She likes to have it held for her sometimes and other times she will just hold it...go figure
