The testing is up and the positives are up because everyone has to test now for every little thing. So even with no symptoms people are coming up positive. They need to show true numbers, how many showing symptoms, how many hospitalized vax versus non vax. That is what matters, not random testing numbers. I just saw a chart on Suffolk numbers about hospitalizations. Over 80% were unvaccinated. That is the numbers they need to be worried about. I am not advocating for vaccinations but choice. Let people know the true numbers and decide for themselves what to do. Those that are constantly scared can see their vax is keeping them out of the hospital and we can move on with our lives. I am over all this crap and the over reaching from the government. But let this new Governor keep going so we can get a republican in power in the next election.
This is what bugs me they skew the information to suit themselves. Weekly testing just increased this past fall with the option to Vax or test but you won't hear them say that. 2 people at my daughter job had sniffles they are fully vaxed and went to take a test anyway. 2 weeks off before Christmas whats better then that?
The city venues that only allowed fully vaxed people attend.....shut down again. That basketball player who refused to vax is being allowed to play (not in NYC) because all the other vaxed players are out. This shot has not proven itself and is not safe for my child!

I think the vaccine worked as initially intended - to stop the spread of the original variant.
It’s efficacy has waned as the virus mutates.
Right now - it just seems to prevent serious illness. The majority of kids aren’t getting that sick from Covid so it seems senseless to mandate a vaccine that prevents serious illness when kids typically don’t have serious illness.
The virus will continue to mutate overseas and come to the US. Thankfully it seems to be mutating to less serious strains.
I just don’t feel the mandate makes sense… I mean it’s rapidly spreading in NYC right now and through sports teams - the majority of people are vaccinated. And cases will go up as the symptoms are so light, people will test at first sniffle.

I don't understand how we know that the shot causes less serious symptoms. Were is that proven? Seems that everyone that has gotten Covid reacts to it differently some have mild symptoms some people are hospitalized. This has been from the onset, before there was a supposed vaccine. There are people both with shot and without walking around and the only way they know they have it is because the test said so. There is no way to know how your body will handle Covid so how can they say the shot lessens it.

Definitely. I do feel that more and more people are questioning things as they make less and less sense....
We have a statewide mask mandate (ok so loosely enforced) and NYC has some of the highest vaccination rates in the county and the number of Covid cases in NY is at it's highest point in the pandemic (yes, there is more testing available, and I am sure so many people are testing even with no symptoms but, still...)

Yes- I'm sure now since vaccinated folks are getting sick - everyone is testing, and since the symptoms of omicron mimic the common cold - that has something to do with it. It's insane though.

I don't thrive on panic or hysteria. I am not in a state of panic or hysteria. In fact, I chose to vaccinate my child b/c it was MY choice to do so and to LESSEN my fear and anxiety. I spoke at length with my children's doctor. And I know that there are those on here who will claim their ped told them the exact opposite. BUT, my ped, the doctor I chose to trust to treat my children with best of intentions, explained to me that he was seeing FAR too many healthy kids very sick and in ICU. Not saying he lead me to believe that MOST were in ICU or that my children would be.. but otherwise healthy children were being hospitalized and very sick. So, we CHOSE to have our children hospitalized. Because we trust our ped. Bottom line. I didn't use my children as an experiment, I don't love or value any of my children any less than anyone choosing to take the stance of "not my child". I also don't believe the vaccine should be mandated for kids. But I chose to vaccinate mine. And the unvaccinated spewing off about it should be my choice, i'm tired of being bullied and picked on.. should really take their own advice. If you think saying we are living in fear and hysteria or using our children as experiments is being accepting and kind, think again.

I can see that. And like I said, I don't agree with mandating it for kids at all. I just am over hearing how i used my son as an experiment or acting out of panic and hysteria caused by the media or whatever. I made a choice to do what I think is in the best interest for my son's health and our own, just as those who choose not to feel they are also doing. Yet, I'm using my son as an experiment.

I don't think you are using your children as an experiment.
It's such a hard decision to make. And I feel that no matter what decision you do make - there is an extreme amount of stress associated with it. I don't feel you used your kids as an experiment - I just don't feel that people should be forced either way.

Same here. There are many parents who are NOT anti-vaccines, that still dont want to give this vaccine to their child.

Exactly. I am far from an anti vaxer. I never even broke up the MMR due to all those Jenny McCarthy fueled fears at the time, I never altered a vaccine schedule. If my ped said this was how he did it I did it
She got everything on time and fully vaxxed.
Even a flu shot every year since she was old enough to get it at 6 months.
There is not one vaccine I have an issue with (maybe the HPV one but that's another story and I'm not 100% against it, just on the fence for now)
And I know soooo many parents who feel the same. I don't like being called an anti vaxer when I am 100% not.
The hesitancy with THIS vaccine for children- given the risk to children from Covid is so low- does not make someone anti science or anti vax.

I agree with you. I am vaccinating my children, and I am certainly not experimenting on them. It was a very difficult decision and one that required a lot of thought and a lot of speaking to my children's doctor.
Nobody is wrong in this situation. Each parent needs to be able to decide what is best for their child. Period. If you want to vaccinate, I respect you. If you don't want to vaccinate, I respect you. I hope this is not mandated for children- it worries me.

I believe it has to go through the state Senate and Assembly. There are already bills there for and against the vaccine mandate... There is also one that removes parental consent for children over the age of 14 which is more troubling to me than the vaccine mandate.
Also - I think it needs to become FDA approved before mandated for school. Pfizer recently asked for FDA approval for 12+ but not yet for 5-11.
