Hi Ladies! I’m home with my son!!!! 
I’ll give you the shortest version I can…
5:00 Thursday morning I “think” my water broke but I can’t be sure because I went to the bathroom when it happened. Thankfully DH was still home, he jumps out of bed and tells me to call the doctor. I call and they say to go to the hospital at 7.
I am not having any contractions at this point, and we really thought it wasn’t gonna happen that day, but we bring our bags and pillow and we go.
We get to South Nassau and they are expecting us, so they put me in a room and strap me to a monitor….from there it goes pretty quickly.
5 people come marching in, the L&D nurse says I am not going home, but having my baby TODAY!!!!!  I start to panic and get my IV and another doctor checks me and says I am 1 ½ cm dilated. They start me on pitocin right away because the baby’s heartbeat was erratic and going all over. The nurse tells us the baby will probably be born around 9 that evening.
Now my contractions are little twinges, and start to get a little stronger, DH was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, he even went downstairs to install the carseat base because we hadn’t gotten to it yet!!!!
He comes back and the contractions aren’t so bad, but getting stronger. I am checked again and now 3 cm…..now they say the baby will arrive around 6.  All the while my parents had driven to their lake house upstate the night before, so they are making their way home.
DH is calling his friends to tell them that he needs their help to finish the kitchen, which is completely dismantled. I am pretty calm and collected still….
Then the contractions really start kicking in and I am thinking “Holy cow, if this is what they feel like at 3cm, what is 10 cm like?!?!?!?!”
My doc says that we can start with a sedative in my IV and then move onto an epi later on…..OK, he’ll be back soon. Finally though, I can’t take much more, and thinking I am such a wimp, I beg DH to tell the nurse to help me, I am in so much pain.
My doc comes in and checks me out, I am already 6 cm!!!!! It’s only about 11AM…..
The epi doc comes in a few minutes later and gives me my drugs, which by the way was NOT BAD AT ALL.
I am still feeling pretty bad contractions though, so a few minutes later he gives me another dose……now my legs are totally numb, I can’t feel anything from the waist down and my contractions have pretty much stopped. 10 minutes later my doc comes in and say I am 9cm amd we’ll start pushing in a half hour…..ummmmm…..I can’t feel my legs, how am I gone push a baby out of my body?!?!?!?!?! 
So we wait a little while and I start to get some contractions and the L&D nurse tells me to push and DH gets freaked because it’s only the 2 of them in the room, it was pretty funny! The nurse and I swore he would hit the deck at any moment….
So, about a ½ hour later the doctor comes in, looks at the baby’s heart rate and says, this baby needs to come out very soon……push with all your might. I thought I was, but I still can’t feel anything….I start to get really nervous, thinking I am going to end up with a c-section. Not the end of the world, but you know….
Pushing pushing, doing the best I can, and the doc says again, this baby needs to come out NOW. So, with the help of the vacuum extractor and a nurse pushing on mybelly, and me doing the best I can, Gavin Thomas was born at 1:56 PM. The cord was wrapped around his neck 7 times, but he is totally fine and so beautiful. He had no name for the first 20 minutes, my doc was pushing for Alex, that’s his name…..but Gavin was what I saw when I looked at him…..He did on number on me too, got 4 sutures…ouch!!! I was told in the maternity ward that the nurses were wating Gavin heart rate on their scrreen and wondering what my doc was gonna do, turns out I was a minute away from an emergency c-section....
That’s my story, in a nutshell……the hospital was truly amazing, I wanted to stay for another week, they were really great.
My friends and family all pulled together and worked till dawn on my house, which is almost finished, I hope. I am so grateful to all of them.
Oh, and for all the ladies who are worried about pooping on the table, I did it, it was pretty obvious, and I really didn’t care, no one else seemed to give a “crap” either.
DH wanted me to tell you that I am his hero and he is so proud of me....
 Oh, and I can dry at the drop of a hat......and my milk came in so I am officially calling myself rock-boobs.....
