Hi Ladies, This new mommy is back! pics added
I came on LIF last night but it was after 1am and didnt want to post. My dh is downloading pictures and I should havet them shortly.
OK heres the story:
Wednesday the 18th after we went to the doctors at 8:30am, I had a feeling today was the day. I did have light spotting that morning, I had mild contractions since 3am and when I was examined told 2cm dialated 60% effaced. The doctor told me he was going to stir things up to get this baby rolling. Well my dh goes to work right after the appointment and I told him the baby was coming and to stay home. The weather was bad and the railroad was screwed up so he drove to lower manhattan to work. After he left I laid down to sleep as i was tired and up all morning with mild contractions. So at 11am I took a 1hour nap. When I woke up I felt like I ran a marathon, i woke up sweaty and saw a watery discharge. I did not think this was my water breaking as I thought it was the rest of the mucus plug. I asked my mil to come over as I didnt feel well and didnt want to be alone. She left work early and my fil and mil were there at 4pm. I started a log of how far apart the contractions were and at that point it was 10-15 minutes apart, lasting no longer than 30-45 seconds. I told my dh i think shes coming and he kept saying it would be best to have the baby on thursday morning since he had to finish something for his job but if nature says different we cant do anything about it. Well at 7pm my fil went to get pizza and i felt the contractions were stronger. I ate inbetween the contractions which i laugh at now becuase i didnt realize that you shouldnt eat before going to the hospital for some reason. anyway i had a slice of pizza and 2 garlic knots and the contractions were not 3-5 minutes apart at 30-45 seconds long so since they were getting stronger I then had to lay down, I was in denial of how close they were and thinking I was counting wrong. I had kidney stones twice so I was used to the pain I was having, so around 7:30 pm the contractions were more intense and really hurt that i was crying so i called the doctor and said I think im in labor. he asked if my water broke and I said i don't know and told him about the watery liquid. He said to come to the emergency room and the would admit me to labor and delivery. I live 2 miles from the hospital so my fil drove me there. They get me into the labor and delivery room and the doctor comes in at 8pm, I told them I do not want an epidural unless im at least 4 cm dialated since I could be sitting there for 12-14 hours. so the doctor checks and im 5 cm dialated. I said lets get the epidural cranking. So within 20 minutes I felt like a new woman. Let me tell you this did not hurt one bit. The iv they gave me for liquids hurt more. It felt like a slight prick and then they put a cool liquid that felt pretty cool. slowly i felt the contractions lessen as the medicine was working and before i knew it i was talking through complete contractions not feeling a thing. at 8pm i called dh to tell him how far along i was and he left work as the nurse said he had 2 hours to get there. well at 10pm i was 7cm and by 11pm i was 10 cm dialated and the doctor said lets start pushing. I pushed for a total of 2hours and 2 minutes and gave birth to a 9 lb 13 oz baby girl named Olivia Rose. I cannot believe the size of this baby to be honest with you all. I was told by the doctor that she would be 8.5 lb oz and was worried about the size and if i was induced monday i would have a 9 lb baby. i think if she didnt come thursday she would have been over 10 lbs. everyone cannot believe i did it naturally. so when she came out the nurses said 8.5 lbs and the doctor said no way 9+ lbs. They measure the baby and weigh them in the nursery so when dh came back 1 hour later he said 9lbs 13 oz and i couldnt believe it. I did have a slight fever during deliver as from all the pushing i think i exerted myself and had a 100.9 fever, the baby had a 100.6 but could have been from bringing her to the nursery and moving her around. Anyway she was put into the special care nursery and hooked to an iv of antibiotics as a precautionary measure. All the moms got to have the babies in their room except for myself and one other mom so i had to go to the nursery to feed her every 2-3 hours. I actually look back at this now and glad she got the attention as they showed me and told me so many things that helped. If she did have an infection she would have to stay at the hospital for 10 days but she was fine. we came home yesterday evening and had company so this is my first chance to post. we are doing well. will post a pic shortly. Have to say I never knew i could fall in love with someone so quickly and deeply. She doesnt cry except to eat and sleeps so well. I could ask for a better baby.
also wanted to say the staff in labor and delivery was awesome and the nursery staff rocked. i made cookies before we went to the hospital the day before for the staff since I had a feeling she was coming soon. We also brought in munchins and stuff since they were so helpful.

Everytime you tell people you delivered a almost 10lb baby vaginally, you'll get this reaction  I still get that look when I tell people Nate was 10lbs 3oz.
