here's a question for ya, Party People

would you go to two back to back events hosted by the same person.

IE:

one event Friday night, celebrating their birthday

and then

an event on Saturday night, celebrating someone else's birthday (but thrown by the prior nights bday girl)

TIA

Re: here's a question for ya, Party People

Regardless of the host, it is two different birthday parties for 2 different people.

However, I am a lazy lout and do not go out more than 1 or 2 days per MONTH.Chat Icon So if it were ME I would choose the birthday I wanted to celebrate more (probably the Saturday one because I prefer going out on Saturday to Friday). Then I would show up with a gift for both birthday peeps.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think it matters who's hosting. If both events were something I want to celebrate, I would go to both events.

I have realized that I don't possess much "etiquette" according to what I have read Chat Icon

so I was thinking maybe it would be too much to get 2 invites from 1 person for 2 different back to back events.

I am trying to assimilate Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'd totally go to YOUR birthday party!Chat Icon I am fairly certain that there would be strippers anyway.

I think you need to drop hints that a party needs to be THROWN for you.Chat Icon

Re: here's a question for ya, Party People

My family did this for my wedding. My monther's 50th birthday was the day before my wedding. She was more than OK with me getting married the day after her big 50 B-day. She didn't want anyone to know she was turning 50.Chat Icon So I went ahead & planned my wedding for Friday 8/24. Anyway, even though she was trying to "hide" her birthday, my dad had different plans. He wanted to have a party for her. So he planned a BIG party @ their house for the day after my wedding. It was perfect because most of our OOT family were already coming for the wedding on Friday so they stayed for the whole weekend & came to celebrate my mother's birthday the next day. The hotel rooms I had blocked off with a special rate, I made sure the rate was good for the entire weekend.

It worked out really well & we had a great big PARTY weekend. Everyone in our family still talk about how much fun that weekend was.

ETA: I know I am a little off topic, but I just wanted to point out that if people want to party, they will come. My Family LOVES to Party so it was perfect to have the 2 parties back to back.

If it wasn't for the same person than yes.

I've been invited to an engagement party, bridal shower, 30th birthday for her, 30th birthday for him in the span of 4 months. That was obnoxious.

Re: here's a question for ya, Party People

I agree with PP. If it's for two different people and I am friendly/care about both people I would go to both. Unless I already have a prior engagement that day.
