Have you ever put a filling in your own birthday cupcakes?

Have you ever put a filling in your own birthday cupcakes?
if so, what was it and what was your method. I checked YouTube and there seems to be a lot of different ways to do it.
They would be for a bunch of 2 yr olds so I don't want them too sweet.

I used a pastry bag and one of those plastic icing tips. I poked a hole in the top of the cupcake after they cooled a little bit. Stuffed the bag in and Squeezed. I just put in regular vanilla icing.
I then iced the top of the cupcakes to cover the hole I poked in them.

I prefer the buy Hostess cupcakes, rip off the tops & ice them yourself method.

I have put a mini marshmellow inside and also you can drop in a hershey kiss.
