Haggling at Raymour and Flanigan?

Hi,

Does anybody have experience purchasing at Raymour and Flanigan and haggling the price down? I am so horrible at haggling in general. The best offer I got for a sofa was 12 percent off sticker price if I pay in full, and then another 3% in a few weeks when they're running their friends and family sale. But they really didn't knock anything off the sticker not related to paying in full up front. Is that a good deal?

Thank you :)

I was there a few weeks ago - they told me that if i sign up for their R&F credit card, they could offer me 10% off the sofa. BUT, the guy warned that the CC is pretty high interest so he suggested we pay it off in full when we get the bill.

You could always do something like that and pay off the R&F CC with another 0% CC.

i didn't actually go through and buy the sofa so i don't know if there would be other deals or anything.

good luck!

I'm looking for a table with them and I was offered $100 off the set with the cc. Fine, but I need $300 off!!

Are they having some kind of sale right now?

I just bought a whole bunch of stuff and if you pay in cash they are more prone to negotiate. We ended up instead going for the 0 interest till 2016 since ill be out of work on maternity leave for the next 3 months.

I bought my living room furniture there and they were not interested in negotiating.

They will not negotiate if you do interest free financing. I was able to get 10% off by being very persistent. We spent quite a bit of money so they wanted the sale. I have to say they are great to deal with and the 5 years interest free we got is awesome. We will pay it off way before 5 years.

Go to the clearance center! we bought our bedroom set from there in october. I saw the set originally in the regular R&F and just happened to stop in the clearance center. we got interest free financing for 6 months and bought a king sized bed, two twin box springs, king mattress two night stands, a tall 5 drawer dresser, a long dresser and a mirror with a five year warranty for $2900. originally everything was close to $5000. the mattress was $1900 and we got it for $700. everything was also brand new. no floor models

They will price match if you find the same piece somewhere else for cheaper. We walked in with printouts of the same couch at other retailers for cheaper and they honored the price. We went to the one on Old Country Road by Roosevelt Field.

I'm looking for a dining set that is about 1000. With delivery and tax it's close to $1200 and that's out of my budget. I hope to find it at the clearance center but they tell me that new stuff doesn't go there. Meaning new arrivals. i'm going to check it out anyway. Supposed to be 40% off.

We negotiated the friends and family discount at a time when the discount wasn't being offered.

12% is their max discount. I know someone who worked there.

Also, I spent a ton of money on furniture from there, and 3 years later it is ALL falling apart. My furniture from Bobs Discount is holding up much better.

We got 12%. You can always check in on 4square. I did that and saw they had a checkin discount. I was going to use whichever was the est discount.

Thank you for all the replies!

I guess 12% plus another 3% for the friends and family is pretty good for them. FYI, the sales person told me the friends and family sale will start at the end of April (I think he said April 26)
